Holgas are actually really easy to get a hold of. You can either eBay it, check out [link] (if you don't mind paying for a bundle), or do as I did and head to a local photo supply store. I picked up my first Holga yesterday for a cool $25 and can't wait to start shooting.

This is a killer toy shot! I just love the way these images look. If anyone buys her a Holga - or Diana - or whatever - gimme one too. I'm just itching to work with it. Do you process the film from these yourself? or can you take them into a place? I know nothing about film photog.

Oh! and check out [link] (I think that's it) - it's a toy cam book put together by :decscab-lab: and some others. Really great stuff.

ok so heres the deal. I have a holga and YOU NEED TO GET ONE!!! So the film. I process mine if its black and white, havent got to color processing just yet, but it will come by the end of this school year. Ive also bought/found some more toy cameras. It has become a lifestlye for me and I so so so love it. There are lots of camera shops around the dfw area that can process 120 with no problem. I know for sure that Garland and Mesquite Camera can process it for you. The film is relatively inexpensive which is nice cause its not the super expensive large format and its still professional film. I got my Holga from freestyle camera online for about $25 and it comes with a manual. I decided on the flash model so I can take some darker shots. After borrowing a friends I realized very quickly that having a flash makes the Holga so much more versitile. Lol can you tell I am in love with it? Also I would love for you to check out a group that I am in. [link] . THese guys and gals are just as obsessed, actually more than I am with all film lomo cameras. Maybe it will get you hooked!

Well, I am currently bidding on ebay for a Diana 151. So far I'm winning at $20, so keep your fingers crossed for me, okay? I'm getting way sucked into the old cams! I'm also looking at a 1946 Mercury II CX, half frame 35mm, for about $20 as well, and am going to try making a Dakian - the paper pinhole camera that was printed in a magazine in Germany forever ago. Even though I am still a total technogeek, and LOVE LOVE LOVE my digicam and all the options and freedom my cam/laptop combo give me - I cannot WAIT to have one of these in my hands! I love them - there is just so much character to the pictures. That and I firmly believe you should know the history of your medium.

So - ok - here's what I'd like to know then... where can I find a crash course in b/w development? I know nothing of film processing and need all the help I can get.

wow im lazy and dont comment back as i should. film processing is fun. Film to tank in dark, slosh a bid of developer, give it a water bath, fix it, hypo, defix it, otherwords another bath, photoflow, hang, dust bad..... in otherwords its a good time!
