I love this luminosity. Lanterns are my favorite thing (on a Harry Potter forum I was lucky enough to get the title "Keeper of the Lumos Spell") so I decided to look them up on DeviantArt. I love the colors, and all the different types of line you used, and you are a genius.

I used watercolor on an arches watercolor block (pre-stretched so I don't have to go through the hassle of stretching my own paper), I then sealed it with a clear acrylic coat and then went over areas in oil.

I think this is simply amazing. The bright colors and contrast caught my attention immediately from the tiny thumbnail view while browsing. Light and dark, hot and cold, soft edges and sharp... This piece has everything! And I love the way everything seems to have an inner glow, not just the lanterns. The effect is surreal but gorgeous. Amazing job on the entire thing!
