Carlton couldn't stand the sight of them. These stubborn four kittens weren't budging. It was bad enough that he went through the wrong gopher hole, which collapsed. Now it would take days for them to get back to his father's den. Great. Father's really going to love this. Now their parents are going to find him before I even get them home. Carlton didn't know what his father wanted to do with these kittens, all he knew was that their father was the one who scarred his face.
Carlton turned to face them. They still haven't moved. "You wouldn't survive out here," he hissed. "You aren't even old enough to take care of yourselves."
"You're not much older than us," Rai responded. His green eyes seemed to stare him down. "Why should we even listen to you?"
His brother, Ransom, smirked, "Besides, you got us lost. It's bad enough that you burned down our home, now you bring us to the middle of nowhere? You're not that much bigger than us to even control us. Why should we listen to you?"
"I am not lost!" Carlton spat. "I know where we are."
The odd eyed sister, Amalthea, muttered, "What was your purpose of taking us to where we are? You saved us from the house that you burnt down for what? For us to die? You are pathetic."
Akyra just shook her head slowly, her eyes still locked on Carton. "Why?"
Carlton bared his teeth, "Because our parents have unfinished business to do. What other way to convince your parents to meet with my father then by involving the children? The offspring of a male calico! You four shouldn't even exist, let alone your father."
Rai took a step towards Carlton, "You think we don't know that? That maybe our father is special and that there is a reason why we exist? We could be asking the same thing? Why do you exist?"
Carlton couldn't stand to look at them any more. We swung his head and bared his teeth. "Enough with the stupid chatter. You guys don't really have a choice. I can lead you back to safety, or you can stay here and rot. You're not trained to track yourself back to your territory. Then what would your purpose be fore existing only a few months? The choice is yours, brats. Follow me, or die."
