Description
For Legends of the Cryptids. This was all sorts of fun. Her story is that she's an evil artist who makes her works out of living people by basically torturing them to death and then turning them into sculptures, frozen in agony.I'm taking some larger liberties with stylization recently but I've been enjoying it so far. Can't always do realism.

the overall execution of this piece is amazing! i love the composition, details, lighting. however, her proportions are throwing me off- even with theΒ stylization. her torso's too long and skinny compared to her head. since the dark outfit is illuminated by the lights behind her, it drew my attention even more. aside from that, its perfect!

Very beautiful work, but her torso is well off, as her Shoulders being broader than her hips. Such as aher Arm being very long too.
Your works are always gorgeous but this one is rather unproportional.

while i agree, he does say in the description that he has been taking liberties to explore sytlisation, so it seems to me he is aware of what's going on

oh, yes, i absolutely agree again! I never accept stylizing as an excuse for mistakes. It's just that with his level of knowledge it speaks to me as a deliberate design experiment. I see from other comments that it does bother others, but I am excited to see him experiment because there Β is some refreshing quality to it. But might be just me

sure, me too. i can see which way he is wanting to go, lesser the realistic, more the caricature-esk style of overexaggerating certain aspects of figures. tho in this he didn't quite hit the nail on the head. i'm sure tho he will get the hang of it very quickly

not necessarily if that is the style he is going for not having 100% proportions then your comment is only an opinion

i guess you didn't really get what i was trying to say: proportion can be anything with tiny heads and big bodies or small feet etc, but there is a balance which has to be kept to make those "unproportions" seem right or it will look, like in this case, out of shape to the viewer.
I hope that kind of explains it.

Oh that was my first thought too to be honest, her body is weirdly unbalanced. The whole piece is awesome as usually though!

haha you're welcome, i agree the shading and everything is top class but the harmony is off within the proportion.
People whom draw and have some amount of skill have an eye for things like that, but it's difficult to explain to people who don't have that gaze.

Then, everyone is boss at stylization? I get what you are trying to say, but Algenpfleger would be an exception of getting far with that style of disharmony. Normally people just suck at what they do when it is not harmonic.

It took me a moment to realize the position of the girl to the left. That must have been difficult.

You have a beautiful painting technique, but this image is soiled by the mega weird torso proportions. It's one thing to stylize, but you have to have a balance. This distracts too much from your obvious talent.
