Here we are. The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was released yesterday. I've seen it twice, and after a long and careful thought, I came to the conclusion that it is a masterpiece of empathy and pathos, perhaps even more than The Fellowship of the Ring. Please, don't kill me!

When I first saw this, I thought it was a screen shot form the move. You captured this scene wonderfully. The colors you used, the lighting and the shadowing is spot on! I do love the detail you did with Bilbo's face. You can clearly see his mix of curiosity and bewilderment that has come from Gandalf's sudden appearance at his home. I think it is neat how you can almost see the inside of the house behind him.

Wonderful job you did on this piece if art! I can't wait to see what else you might do in the future!

I agree. The Hobbit seems underrated in my opinion. I hated how the Critics bashed it and then it wins no major awards and doesn't even get half the positive recognition that the Lord of the Rings did.

But then again who should really care about that, The Hobbit WAS a fantastic film, and that is how it should be viewed. SO I am thankful Β for this stunning digital artwork that you have created.

P.S. DO you have any tutorials or videos of how you did this on YouTube or something like that? I would love to see your prces of how this was done!

Did you see it?

vya In reply to AlessiaPelonzi [2012-12-30 14:04:47 +0000 UTC]

Yes, I did, twice actually, because I wasn't really hooked the first time I watched it. After weatching it again and thinking about it, I think I like the movie, even though I still have a few things I didn't really enjoy (it's so long! D: And a few others thing...), I think it's a good one.
While I though the Lord of the ring-movies were okay, but I wasn't a fan, I think I enjoyed this one even more. It wasn't only about the fighting and I think the idea about dwarves is really interesting. I liked the characters more than I did in the other movies, I really hope they're going to explain them all/their relationships & show more of them in the other movies. (And I'm so in love with Thorin, I have no idea how this happened...)
I'm looking forward to the other movies and what they changed from the book.

AlessiaPelonzi In reply to vya [2012-12-30 15:13:08 +0000 UTC]

I agree with you. Bilbo is an extraordinary character, much more interesting than Frodo in my opinion. The film owes much to Martin Freeman's beautiful performance and, secondly, to Richard Armitage's charm. I didn't like very much Thorin in the novel, but I loved him in the film. Not only he is aesthetically beautiful, but he's also much more charismatic and less hateful of his literary version!
