Description Princess Alexandra the Coronation Pacific pulling the Coronation Scot in its heyday.  At this point, the LNER and the LMSR were in a fierce contest of luxury, speed, and streamlining.  The L&NER won the battle of strength and speed, as the A4 Pacifics retained the streamlining right to the end of the class's existance in September 1966.  The Coronation Pacifics' streamlining was gone in 1949 with the removal of the Stanier streamlined shroud from City of Lancaster in 1949.
