Poor Folquet. I wonder what the curse is about. Uh did he ask someone to stab him in the chest?...aw poor guy!

Ah goodness. No I hadn't thought of that! But that would actually be a great plot-twist. I wish I had!

I'm so glad you are finding it interesting! I was afraid that there has been too much of Folquet talking and that a small change of pace is needed! But that aspect of the story (who injured him) will unravel soon.

Oh my, something tells me it would be a great idea for Seb to push the nosiness at this moment and just squeeze in a 'but wait a second, tell me more really fast' before something avoidable can happen later

Haha true. But the moment is ruined. He was making Folquet feel at ease and open up, but it's all gone now, dammit. THanks Borja...-_-

!!Nit-picking alert!! ' to mock me further ' Just a typo, I know.
An interesting turn to the story; are we to understand that there are Two separate individuals involved here? It was the dichromatic fellow , presumably , who laid the curse on him...what I find perplexing is that Folquet evidently considers being hacked to pieces by someone (almost) less important than the mysterious stranger who enchanted his lute and cursed him. Or is it that the attack was in some way justified? Will all become clear at Carcassone? (I visited that imposing burg in late fall, back in the 70's. - can't wait to see how you portray such a setting. ) It's great to see how you are using different views of your characters to express their manner of speaking- like the evasion in panel four. One of the perks of comics! Can't wait for more!

Ah, there it is. I always make these typos.
Yes indeed! The cursed song and the sword attack are two different issues. Sebastian assumed that if he will find out about the lute, he will find out about who attacked Folquet. He didn't consider the option that the two were not connected...And you are very right, Folquet is much more bothered by what happened with the song, what it led to for him personally, and for the children it led astray, than about the attempt on his life. Let's just say that as a vampire, of almost 200 years, he's had attempts on his life many times. Cursed songs? That's a different kettle of fish entirely....
I'm very nervous about drawing Carcassonne. For one thing, it's just such an impressive, massive, monumental structure - I doubt I will be able to draw that convincingly. Secondly, the modern look of Carcassonne is much different than it would have been in the 13th century because of the highly fantastical 19th century restorations. I feel I SHOULD make it more accurate in my depiction. But I am certainly not looking forward to looking at maps of where the changes were made and diagrams of how it might have looked originally. It's just...really not a very exciting task...

I think I get your point- for a putatively immortal being, (200 years and counting?) the attempt on his life must have seemed just one of the hazards of the game. The curse, however, strikes at the heart of his artistic integrity. I can relate.
What I remember of Carcassonne is a lot of massive stone work- it would seem that except for maybe a long shot in twilight , all you really need to do is the typical medieval interior , eg, stone walls , tapestries, perhaps- whatever is generally accepted as period , and that you know already. I think it is more important that the background feels 'real', than to have laboriously created an authentic setting which is archaeologically correct. What is important to the narrative is your characters and their lives , after all, and I continually find your concept of an alternative history fascinating.

That's pretty much what I remember too. It's just such an imposing sight, right? Those walls as you approach the city. Esp. by night.
I'm very glad to hear that! I always felt that alternative history is a tricky game to play. Many times I put down a fiction book which tried to use history because I found it too inaccurate historically. On the other hand, the really 'accurate' ones, I often find boring. Because they just try to tell history but in a fictional manner. They treat historical events as their plot and make real historical figures into their characters and I always had trouble engaging with that. If I want to know history, I'll read a history book...

Exactly! Creating real historical fiction or fantasy is not for the pendant or the faint of heart. The best ones I've read so far is the 'Niccolo' series by Dorothy Dunnet. She has taken a similar road to you, in that she has created a character and set him against a richly imagined and meticulously researched 15th century. Great events abound, and yet they are merely backdrop for the plot which involves (in part) the career of a merchant banker from his days as a dyers apprentice in Flanders to becoming the head of a rich and successful financial enterprise. Yet the character and the particular events he is a part of are totally imaginary. You might find it interesting to google the author:dunnettcentral.org/dorothy/boo…

Hmm, I wonder what will happen...and what of this attack?
I fee llike that is something critical for them to figure out the process and reason behind. After all I would be worried about repeats while he is in the company of our heroes.

Seb assumed the attack and the curse are connected. Now that it turns out they're not, he's a bit at a loss. I don't want to spoil too much but the attacker part is something which will soon be solved. The curse on the other hand, will remain a mystery.

Let's just say that the person (or persons) who put the curse on Folquet go way beyond him. He was just an unknowing pawn in a much larger game. A game which Sebastian and co will be discovering as they travel to the holy land.

When you wrote that your tablet is back I hoped that you will be able to start working again on this story! Great work! You are very good at shading and depicting light. Also, I agree with BricksandStones - this is quite a cliff hanger! I hope Seb will have a chance to listen to the rest of the story soon!
