Ahhh, it's been a looonnnggg time since I drew Hanabi properly, pff xDThis time, I did it for my AS Level portfolio for school. For this picture I looked at primarily, and a little bit of as well xD
It looks no where NEAR as amazing, but, goddamn. I give up already.
I'll probably want to burn this later, so I won't waste time looking at it, pff. On another note, my art teacher better be happy that I'm actually trying really hard to do some work, otherwise I'm just gonna jump off a roof and miss the hay bale beneath.

HOLY FF-- WHERE DO I START.
Let's start by saying, DON'T BURN IT. IT'S GLORIOUS. Not to mention, epic hair skillz strikes again. The soft shading but range of tones I think helped bring out all the rainbow flowers coming out from behind her, and works with all the stars on her. I'm actually quite interested in why the gnarled tree behind her is barren of flowers or leaves. What does it symbolize?
Her expression seems a little strained or forced but combined with all the cool greens and blues in her hair, it leaves a sort of bitter peace.
At this stage I can't think of any ways to improve or negative criticism. It's that awesome.

I guess you could say it was strained because she is my only character who never stops smiling. If she's sad, she smiles, happy, smiles, pained, smiles, anything, smiles. No matter what, she always has a wide smile or grin on her face even though she feels nothing. She's lived so long that she just does it and she's tired of it.
I'm not sure what the barren tree would really mean, but I guess among all the strange and wonderful things she can be, she is just a simple creature/thing. But no one ever sees that. She's just an empty vessel who fakes everything. She is just a thing.
So, in this picture, her mouth is in a hard line, not smiling, but trying to. She's just hopeless now.
I'm not really sure what I just said, but, walls of text are intimidating----

Aww Hanabi... wow, before reading this I thought she was a really spontaneous and superactive character, but now everything is... aw Hanabi. That leafless tress suddenly makes me sad, like under all the layers of colours she displays it's just empty D:

Ahaha, yeah, she is a spontaneous and superactive kid, but, I guess at the same time, she's just there. She is completely empty, but acting like that is actually pretty genuine? She genuinely loves to manipulate, observe, make happy, creep about, note reactions etc but at the same time, she's just so tired. So tired, yet she will fight on until it's impossible.
It's as if she has a duty to other living creatures. Whether the duty is to care for or destroy is unknown, but she's there, in the shadows.... And now I feel sad because Hanabi is sad, haahahah

Holy fucking aaaaaaaaaaaaah! It's like technicolor had an acid trip with a mushroom chaser while at a rave. I feel like I've had a colorgasim.
Just. Everything about this is so beautiful. I think I'll start with the hair.
The delicate gradients of blue give such depth to each section, so carefully shaded and sectioned, and the graceful drape, particularly over the shoulder where it just grazes the collarbone. The weight and and silky texture are just handled so perfectly in every aspect, along with the play of light sources, dragged from both the background and foreground of the image. The hair alone is a testament to your skill, but when placed with the rest of the elements becomes part of something so much greater.
Like the beautiful profile of Hanbi's nose, or the gnarled curved of the barren tree. The phantom mushrooms dragged right out of the psychedelic era and the curving vine work interwoven with ribbon. The contrasts in sharp edges and gentle shading, cutting into each other while accenting the image as a whole.
Space has become Hanabi's mantle. Blood-like streamers of color the veins echoing the tree at their back as darkness and light tangle at the base of the picture.
This is just pretty impressively impressive.
