this is really awesome! I was wondering if i might be able to use this as a reference? Im starting to animate, and i like to use both real life and other artwork as references, some animations i like to try to recreate (With permission and credits of course) and i was just wondering if this would be alright?

This is wonderful! I love how much the mouth opens, and the way it's ears fold back as it barks. Looks amazing!!! Keep it up!!!

it's really nice maybe an extended start would be nice~
also, if you add in a little scrunch on the nose i think you'll see what'll add a nice touch to this XD
man~ you're so lucky~ I haven't done an animation in ages and i seriously just wanna do one~ ;u;

DO ONE NOW. DO ONE NOW.
I'm pretty sure you'd do better than me I mean really, just looking at your icon it already shows.

It definitely looks good, but I think you're right about needing more frames.
I don't know anything about animation but I think adding more would make it look smoother.

This is awesome! I think what may make it even better is adding an anticipation frame before he barks where his face is squashed, and stretching the apex frame at the top a bit. I really love your animation tests!

Squashed face? Like, SQUASHED squashed or like, scrunching up the nose before the first bark?
A-and....What's an apex frame?
Meep.

Tazihound In reply to aignavus [2014-04-10 02:38:49 +0000 UTC]
Ah a squash, like his face literally squashes to make an antic so the audience anticipates the bark, this is kind of a crappy example but here's a bark I did:Β natacatt.tumblr.com/post/79437β¦
and then the apex is the highest point that the character will reach, a stretch is nice to throw in there to exaggerate the movement. Your animations amaze me, you have natural talent, I think you should go into animation =]Β

Holy moly, I poked around your tumblr and WOAH, I can't wait 'till you get to finish that animatic!
You're so skilled.
M-meh...

aw thank you SO much, and damn! I wish I knew what you did when I was your age, and don't feel intimidated, animation is awesome and I see so much talent in your future! Ah photoshop and flash is pretty easy to combine actually! What I do is draw my key poses in photoshop, then save each layer as an individual image in a sequence (i.e.: dog_1.png, dog_2.png) then in flash you can choose to import image sequence under file>import>import to stage and it will automatically import your sequence. Then you can play around with timing, see what needs to be fixed, and go back into photoshop to make changes and clean it up =] This may sound pretty confusing, I'm not the best at explaining things, but I hope it helps! This way you can color, paint your bg, ect. in photoshop while still having the desired timing that flash offers. Feel free to ask any other questions, I'm no expert but I'm doing a lot of animation right now for my film so I'm in the mindset and I can see if I can help =]

Oooooh I get it!~Β
Crappy!? What are you talking about this is really good! ;A;
Those dangly ears, guwaaaaahhhh.
How did you mix up flash and photoshop like that? I've been wanting to know how people do that for AGES.
I WANT to, in fact I PLAN to.
(Just two more years and I'm thrown into college. Yikes.)
It's just that, I'm scared--
I keep getting the feeling that I might be making the wrong choice....

Oh yeah! Idk if you've thought more about where you're going to college for animation but I know a ton of great schools, not sure where you're located (I'm in CA) but I could send my list to you if you like =]

wow this is super good lakjsdflkajf I agree with the person below about one or two more frames before the actual bark but really what do I know?! xD
Its so smooth and realistic. I like how you made his head tilt back when he lifted his nose. Β Ive seen lots of artists make the top jaw move up without moving its head so it looks like hes got a backwards mouth where the top moves instead oft he bottom xD Β Its so amazing **watches over and over again**

I actually kind of like the roughness in the way his mouth moves, but that's just me. I totally don't have the patience to animate, so hat's off to you!

MatrixPotato [2014-04-09 13:14:37 +0000 UTC]
This is really awesome! Everything looks smooth, except for the mouth's moves. It's a little rough and might need another layer between the two barks (because it looks like it's doing two quick barks). But otherwise, you did a great job. c:
