Yep Minako is wearing a cape like a superhero or her Papa the Hokage.

[STORY TIME]

Minako has a strange bond with Sahara. The very first time these two met was when Minako was on a fun family trip with her family away from Konohagakura, Minako was around 8 at the time and Sahara around 6 years of age. While Minako was their to enjoy the hot springs with her family, Sahara was their training under Ira learning to manipulate people and conquer pain. At the time none were aware of Sahara's true identity as the unknown youngest child of Sasuke Uchiha...Unknown because Karin her mother was kidnapped by the mysterious man Ira before she even knew she was pregnant with her second child, so Sahara was born in a dungeon and then taken from her Mother as a baby to be used as a weapon by Ira. They would not learn of her identity until 9 years later.

Minako found Sahara standing by herself looking somewhat lost, Minako being as friendly as she is instantly went over to make a new friend however Sahara was not at all lost she simply was waiting for someone to come over and offer her help so she can practice manipulating them. Sahara was hoping for an adult to practice on and turned away from Minako when she started questioning whether the girl was lost or not. Minako assuming she is just shy tries again but a bit more pushy, Sahara sighs concluding that the loud pink haired girl isn't going away and decides to answer her question.

She answers Minako's question about being lost by shaking her head no, just then after responding Sahara's stomach rumbles so loudly it surprises even her! Ira had her learning to be able to handle starving for a period of time so she hadn't eaten in some time.
Minako laughs and takes her hand telling her not to worry she would get her something to eat and pulls her by the hand down the street. She ends up buying the girl Ramen with the allowance money she had saved, Sahara abandoning her training as she was so hungry hoped Ira wouldn't be angry with her as she ate the Ramen all while Minako chatted her ear off with tons of jokes in some attempt to make her laugh, Sahara didn't respond at all didn't even look at her.
Soon the Uzumaki family found Minako, they start coming over to join her. As Minako turns to introduce them to her new "Friend" she realizes Sahara was already gone.

Minako tried pretty hard to get a smile out of her but never managed to so she promises that when she meets her again she will get a smile out of her. Minako really hates seeing people suffer and she couldn't help but notice an underlying suffering behind that young girls eyes.

She wouldn't see Sahara again until 9 years later when she accidentally bumps into her while on a mission...literally.

The two get captured thanks to Minako who also accidentally broke her leg making her unable to escape when Sahara picks the lock on their cell. Sahara was close to leaving her but for some reason changes her mind and lets Minako lean on her as they make their escape. Sahara later tells Minako the only reason she helped her is because she still owed her for the bowl of Ramen.

She helps Minako make her way back to where her team(team 7) last was which was a two day trip allowing Minako to try and befriend her once again! This time she does manage to get a smile out of her though it was because of something silly Minako did while the two were fighting off their pursuers, so Sahara really smiled at Minako making a funny noise while in pain. Much like their first meeting Sahara didn't say much though this time she did respond to Minako's questions, if completely vaguely with typically "yes,no and maybe" as a response. When Sahara had finally brought Minako back to her team she disappeared before they could see her. Minako being disappointed that Sahara didn't even say "goodbye".

...At the time Minako was still not aware that Sahara was her enemy, she would soon learn of this. However she never ends up fighting Sahara, she is one of the few characters that doesn't.
