Description I had wanted to give this a try, and with the Halloween season still lingering, I thought it'd be nice to give a more unorthodox monster a try.

This was essentially the star of Steven Spielberg's first full-length picture "Duel." (Essentially the way the shark was the star of Jaws). I was always fascinated by the look of this ancient Peterbilt big rig, and wanted to try it in color for once. I still need to work on paint for future ones, but it was a nice continuation (and something you auto-fans can enjoy to boot in the meantime!)!

The Peterbilt 281 and Duel belong to their creators and owners. The artwork belongs to me.

Comments and suggestions welcome. Enjoy!

You do know which Lizard Tail I'm referring to, right?

What a beast... Nothing beats the old Petes, that's for sure. I think I have a toy one of these up on my shelf somewhere.

Nice job on the shading! It seems fitting to have the truck almost blend in with its surroundings.Β

That was probably another reason why Spielberg picked the truck, color and all, for that movie. I love the hulking looks of these trucks as well. Very brutal and primitive. Thanks for the comment!

Looking at this and reading your description, I suspect I know now what the inspiration was for the "leper" version of Megatron from the third TF flick.Β  Great pic, though it puts me more in mind of Nemesis Prime!

Admittedly, I haven't stuck around the TF franchise myself, but thanks for the interest nonetheless!

Nice Duel fanart I remember watching some parts of the movie as a kid. The truck really fascinated me, because I loved such old trucks at the time. All trucks I've seen all the time were "cab over engines".

Yep, that truck's look was just perfect for that film. We see a few of these style cabs here, but nothing as ancient as what they show here. Thanks, pal!

Another gem from the past I've never heard of. But, that is one beautifully ugly heap of a truck.

A perfect description of this rig! Thanks for the comment nonetheless, Derek!

Haven't seen the film, but I've heard plenty about it, and you've captured the sinister vibe of this big rig perfectly, it blends in pretty well with the equally bleak looking surroundings too - well done.

It's a nice slice of isolationist tension. Thanks for the interest and comment on this piece either way!

Nice work on this. Though I must admit when I first saw this I was thinking of Large Marge From Pee Wee and her big truck.

Hahaha, yeah I already did a Large Marge pic a while back, but it's a decent comparison. Thanks for the comment!

My father told me about that movie, yet I have never seen it. Still, the truck looks menacing and you got it down to a T.

It's a unique movie, totally absorbed in its own era. If you like chases and psychological games, it's an interesting watch. Thanks for the comment either way.

Duel-That movie put it's director on the map, right after his first film, "The Sugar Land Express", was a small start.

Also reminds me of another truck movie, "Sorcerer", as well!

It seems there are a lot of truck movies to compare it to I see! Either way, thanks for the comment!

this made me think of that other movie "maximum overdrive" where the cars and trucks become sentient. but, that movie "duel" is a good one, as well!

great job!
