Great storytelling. Yours is the kind of work I could sit in front of for a long period of time and study.
To me the woman looks to be a dancer, ill-suited to be in that environment obligated to carry a pail full of fish.

she has to put all the fish she is carrying into the wall on the other side of the room (there are already fish in there) 
sometimes when one has done something really excessively throughout the day, e.g. learning maths for an exam or doing sports before going to sleep, one also dreams of doing this at night. It's a real nightmare, because the whole night long one thinks/dreams: Oh, I have to do this task again, or I mustn't stop trying until I have completed this task. Do you know these kind of restless dreams? They gave inspiration to the motive of this painting.
But my main interest in this painting was perspective and all the different layers in the room, mingling and mixing in a way that cannot be.

I'm very familiar with that sort of dream. Wonderfully neurotic. I will probably think of this painting next time I have one. 'I was putting the fish in the wall all night'.

biste dir da sicher? Also riesenleinwΓ€nde sicher nicht, aber ich glaub n kommilitone von mir hatte damals schon nen packen mit abgegeben. Vl einfach mal im Sekreteriat anrufen + nachfragen? und wenn du sowieso schon so viel anderes zeugs hast, wΓΌrde ich einfach rotzfrech noch LeinwΓ€nde mit dazugeben! (ein gewisser Eigensinn gefΓ€llt denen). (ich hab damals noch gar nicht auf leinwand gemalt)
So, ich hatte ja gesagt, ich wΓΌrde mich mal n bisschen bei dir durchfaven, gΓΆnn ich mir mal ne kurze Lernpause und tu das mal
