Description I've tinkered with this one in Photoshop a bit (played with vibrance and saturation) to make it look a bit closer to the original. I really think the ones I have uploaded here in DA are too 'red' when it's actually more coffee brown. But I guess that's what happens during scanning. I had a hard time trying to reproduce the faces and I think this is the closest I got. There's still room to improve but I am afraid I might destroy it entirely by playing with the painting too much so I had to stop.

It looks really nice just like this, the older boys hand in shadow is beautifully rendered .. and the colours look great

Thanks! I had to do the hand twice and initially thought it would be nice to make it darker, but I had to just leave it the way it is. Good to know it turned out good. I have trouble with the elder boy's face though, I cannot exactly get the charmand expression, that it looks like it's frozen. I always like sepia, and if I could, it would benice if I could make something like an old photo... but I'm not that patient to reach hyperrealism level...

You did a fantastic job on them both, and i'm sure you got away with it .. if you tinker with it i think it may ruin. You have a wonderful style and it's developing with every one you do, The painterly style looks so much better than it would if it looked like a photo ..whatever you do try not to loose that which makes it unmistakably yours. Yes sepia is such a fabulous colour, i like it too

Really thanks for the vote of confidence I think I just have the tendency to be obsessive about realism. I am not really sure I have a style yet. I feel like I am still exploring. Coffee is jut a medium and not really a style yet and I am not sure if I would go further with realism or perhaps experiment on something else once I learn more. Right now I just get obsessed over a certain area of a painting then get lazy finishing it (that explains the sloppy edges )I prefer cubism actually but with a sense of realism and I really don't know how to execute it... yet. But I do hope to get there

I have no doubt that you will get there, i'm amazed you find the time. You're a classic tortured artist .. but we do it because we love it (well i do) and would not have it any other way. I wish you success in your artistic journey

Thank you Some areas are not polished yet but I guess that little roughness kind of adds to the effect
