Do you remember the really old games with a very limited and strange colour palettes (i.e. CGA en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Color_Gr⦠)?Exactly these games inspired me to do this picture.

I don't remember CGA but I grew up with VGA! XD
And this one windows programming language from my childhood (QBasic) ran in ancient 16-color DOS :3
I know everyone's like, 'I love these games I grew up with' and I *love* the games I grew up with too, more than I would if I hadn't!
But I actually *didn't* grow up with these games in particular nor feel nostalgia and yet I just love them to death!!--they move me so much somehow!! XDDΒ : DD
Maybe I'm just an oddball..or maybe there really is something to this sub-medium beyond just nostalgia :>

Unfortunately, as good as this looks, I don't suppose that dark cyan colour would've worked with real CGA graphics. You probably could've used the normal bright cyan, albeit with lots of black pixels of varying amounts to darken it.
BTW, Imagine an MLP game on DOS. What would it be about, and how would it play?

There is a bright CGA mode and a darker CGA mode. I took the liberty to use the dark one with the exception of white, because it would have been grey. Yeah. I cheated here but the brighter palette would be eye-bleeding inducing for a wallpaper.

It highly depends on which type of game it would be and how good it is. An adventure game in the style of King's Quest would be neat. Anything more action-oriented in the early CGA era would be too sluggish. Prince of Persia and Karateka, prime examples for this. These games work because there is not much on screen and the animations are very slow.
