Overall

Vision

Originality

Technique

Impact

Yeah, this ship gave me a sweet spot. Y-wing is one of my favorites.

Vision: Lovely to look at and great details, all clearly able to be discerned with stunning clarity.

Originality: All I can say, is it's freaking legit.

Technique: It looks beautifully well done, everything where it should be and no issues with its physical functionality.

Impact: This ship takes me back to being young and watching the Star Wars movies. The Y-wing starfighter always stuck out to me as being one of the coolest ships. So when I look at this, I get that nostalgic feeling mixed with the great work and detail on this and I'm simply stunned.

Overall: This passes the DesTest for sure.

The "DesTest"
I had the idea of a Y-Wing in bad shape requiring repairs beyond what was possible with available parts, but it´s owner too proud to fly an Ugly.
Shortening it was one method: less fighter needs less material.
Which also happens to make is slightly more agile.

A fun kind of circular event, with the whole Star Wars catalyst for the flood of disco-era sci-fi art:

M-Class figher is basically a three engine Y-Wing, this is a shortened version necessary due to a lack of spare parts.
At least that´s the idea i had when i commissioned it.

Kinda looks like the U-wing that's going to be in Rogue One

Well the cockpit is almost the same in the new ship I will actually do that new ship from Rogue One in a few days because it looks pretty cool.

Doesn't seem like it'd be an effective atmospheric fighter like the Y-wing had the capability to be....  Both cannons are oriented the same way, so it'd have a constant list to the right  when not in space.

I signed up for a DeviantArt account for the sole purpose of saying how f*ing awesome your work is.  The thing I like most about your ships is how functional they all look.  For instance, I feel like a human being would have a realistic field of vision if he were actually piloting one, he could ingress & egress the hatches, etc.  All the details on the hull, the little panels and couplings, all seem to have a purpose.  I could go on, but thank you for taking the time to make these and for posting them.

E-Wing, this design is far superior to what is usually known as an E-Wing

Thanks I love the E-Wing so it's even higher praise than you may think!

Must be the engines I'm not familiar with KSP anyway, only seen a screen or two.

Jim-Prower In reply to AdamKop [2014-03-15 10:34:55 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, I think it is indeed the large, round, almost oversized for the starframe engines. Kind of has the crazy "More Power!" feel you get from a good deal of KSP creations.

Shades of a certain design from the old TTA books...

Heretic1311 In reply to TheAtomicDog [2018-04-30 19:04:07 +0000 UTC]

I came up with this idea without knowing that ship you link to.
My idea was that of a pilot forced to do makeshift repairs but refuses to go the "Ugly" way.

AdamKop In reply to TheAtomicDog [2014-03-15 10:27:33 +0000 UTC]

I'm not familiar with that, do you have any links ?

Let me see...
...
Just let me go get the book...
...
Ah. Here it is: The Avery-Frost Orion
farm4.static.flickr.com/3357/3…
And if you like Star Wars vehicles, then a research into the TTA (Terran Trade Authority) books would benefit you. Published during the thick of the sci-fi/space fantasy boom that Star Wars--now known as Episode IV-- brought on, they're collections of the best sci-fi and spaceship art from the Disco era. Wild-ass designs, wild-ass color schemes. Oodles of detail. Big canvases using traditional media. Lots of sci-fi novel cover art.

Nice Ugly

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Heretic1311 In reply to ManganMan [2018-04-30 19:05:22 +0000 UTC]

Intentionally NOT an Ugly (no other fighter parts) as the pilot was forced to do makeshift repairs but refused to go "Ugly".
Yet you are right, it can pretty much be called an Ugly as well.

Kittamaru [2014-03-14 18:13:19 +0000 UTC]

Now this makes MUCH more sense than the current Y-Wing... if they need a place to put the bombs, expand the cockpit portion lower and add the bomb-bay there... makes this thing much smaller and probably more nimble since the center of mass is more... well, central lol.

Very well done, one of my favorite piece from you so far, of course the dual engines and canopy reminds me of the Y-wing. Only even simpler, more basic, an older version maybe ?

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Heretic1311 In reply to Kulter [2018-04-30 19:06:55 +0000 UTC]

It´s a Y-wing in a sever state of ill-repair, the pilot was forced to shorten the craft, but refused to go full "Ugly".

Thanks Indeed it's made on the base of an Y-Wing. It is smaller though and technologically inferior.
