Description + It's been a while since I've taken solace in this place. It was my sanctum, my getaway. There's something comforting about finding quietude on a campus of 40,000. I should head back sometime.

+ Similar techniques and same location as Neverending Story . I definetly tried keeping the look familiar and I think it worked well. (These two should look great side by side on my wall. )

This picture is leaving me breathless. The colors that come through those leaves are amazing! I almost feel as if I could walk beneath those branches and find myself in Narnia, but better. Gorgeous.

its looks like such a peacefull yet misterious space..... must hold many unique memories.... hold them close... never let them slide..

we as human always forget the good memories.. we let the bad control us.. yet we all know it should be viser versa...

don't get me wrong, the techniques look great but the essence of this is the layout. The two trees standing there. It's ike a doorway. An opening to something bright and sacred. All you have to do is cross a few brush and trees and then, serenity.

achfoo In reply to fox718 [2003-11-04 18:39:53 +0000 UTC]

That's exactly how I've seen this image. I liked the gate-like nature of the trees, but wanted to enhance it to make it appear truly enchanting.

Thanks for seeing that!

Foo

I think that while your idea of adding the 'shining light of god's sanctuary' effect is a noble one, too much light can be a bad thing. You know, all those hollywood actors DO begin to squint after the " Aawwawawawwwwwwwwwawawwwwwwwwwww" phase is over with.

You have a knack for natural framing, I think that works well in this piece.

Good job!

Hah, yes! A comment that's critical (kinda) and I agree! I was worried about this being "overlit" but couldn't really strike anything between the original and this. Thanks for pointing it out.

I know I can count on you for straightup responses.

I love something like this...
I have used similar to this for the cover page image (feeling wise) - mystical and beautiful - for my fairy tale(prose).

Some images are beautiful, some are inspiring.
This one does both.

Very well done.

It certainly does look peaceful. I can almost feel the warm sun heating up my skin and the birds chirping in the trees. the lighting is gorgeous, it certainly makes the picture, the white washed out look of the background gives the impression of a heavenly place. i can understand why you'd go there... man 40,000 is unbelievable, though this is coming from a girl who has spent the last two years on a campus with around 400 people on it =cp

great shot foo =c)

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

achfoo In reply to red5 [2003-10-04 21:03:05 +0000 UTC]

I wish I could say it was film I was using. It was shot with a Coolpix 775 and there was an embarassing amount of post-editing. I liked the composition, but the original needed a boost that only digital magic could provide. *sigh*

The process was similar to this although not the exact same.

I remember that place!

So peaceful. I spent many hours just walking, and calming myself there.

I almost miss it. But now Mississippi is my 'sanctum'. It's too peaceful here to leave right now.

The light here is the best part. I love this, I'm faving it.

Miss you guys though.
