Description + This is the first of several shots from my "hiking" adventures the other day. Much like last year, I'd go out exploring the undeveloped forest/trails around campus. I guess, if anything, you'd call it "urban hiking" since I'm in the middle of town and a huge university campus is right next to me. Regardless of all that, though, I can spend 3 hours out there and never encounter another soul. It's wonderful.

+ This particular shot is of a yet-to-be-named lake that I came across. I'll give it a name sometime soon. (If someone else already has, too bad, it's now my lake.) This was one of three places I found that you could actually gain access to the lake. The other two were much smaller and made me feel like I was going to die. I.e., I was suspecting gators or snakes to jump out and welcome/bite me.

+ By the way, this was the first "hike" with the new camera.
+ No editing was done to this image. (Mini-Rant: If you heavily edit your photo in any manner, have the respect to tell your viewers. A lot of people are duped into thinking contrast-whoring equates photographic skill. End-Rant. Thankyou)

That is such a serine shot, the warmth from the sky and the subtle blue tones reflecting of the water really makes this something special.

A shame the water wasn't more still, but that doesn't detract from the viewing pleasure i get when looking at this

Nice

hee pretty lake. It's funny how these little spots can be found even in the middle of an urban area. These hidden treasures will be seen by a handful of selective people and then torn down to make a strip mall. Atleast some got to see it. It's a pitty that- oh god im staring again.. I'll just =X now.

i heavily colour my pictures
but i do not think i hide that from anybody
i mean.. some of the colours i get are just nuts
i rather tell people when i DONT edit the colours

otherwise they can feel free to asume that i edited them. cuz yes, i do for the majority of them.

but this is a great shot for no editing.
i could never leave anything as is.
its really hard for me.
EXCELLENT job!

i wish i had a lake to my call my own...oh what the hell...i guess i'll just have to create a puddle outside later, and name it

gorgeous capture of Nature's fine work of Art. i love the three main elements in the shot - namely the rays filtering through the clouds, the yummy silhouettes and lastly the orgasmic crisp reflections on the lake surface. Truly an amazing find.

you lucky bastard you...uhm...i mean..i lub you!

The lighting on this is so beautiful. As is the sky itself...And I adore the reflections on the water. The composition is lovely, as are the colours, and the whole shot.

Having your own lake must be great fun...

Nate, you already knew I love this photo before I even saw it.

Know how I know? Because lake/sky shots fucking pwn me, and this one is no exception to said rule.

Lovely framing and cropping job, they both really enhance the contents of the already wonderfully taken photo.

Nice overall feel to it, yes-0sir. +fav.

BTW, good luck with the naming

Very lovely shot. I love the strong reflections onto the water

::tries to figure out where that might be:: Probably on the lake claire side... maybe, lol

I've been wanting to wander thru some of the wooded areas on the edges of campus, but just haven't gotten around to it yet

Mwuahaha, you couldn't be farther off, bro. Although, I'm curious to check that side out soon. I explore the South side of campus, behind Academic Village. There's a lot of land back there and along Alafaya; much of it extends to non-UCF land, as far as I can tell. I came to the back of this one corporate building a couple times and also to a hotel (I forget the name, but it's on Alafaya close to campus.)

*gasp* Now you know my secrets!

I would've definetly kept the tag on here if I had access to it. I wasn't aware until recently that PaintShop Pro removes (or simply doesn't hande EXIF tags.) Since I rotated and saved the image in PSP, there was nothing more for me to get. From now on, though, I plan on including what information I can.

My guess would be somewhere around f/8-10 and shutter between 300-500s. I often work in Aperature Priority mode when on hikes like that.

eautiful range of blues you have here. Including the purplish light filtering through the clouds.

Nice composition and framing of the clouds. The reflection of the sky is great except I wish the colors would have popped a little. more.

I don't think it really matters if you ramped the saturation a little. Atleast I wouldn't care b/c in the end it's the final image that matters.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 0

shimmerella [2003-11-16 02:24:50 +0000 UTC]

My favorite aspect of this photo is how the light filters through the clouds. It's amazing. It doesn't have the myriad of colors that sunset shots do, yet you manage to capture the sky in a way that wasn't boring, which sky shots often are (since they have become so cliche). The ripples on the water are just right and the silhouette of the trees is perfect. I wish it was titled, but that's just a minor thing.
