Sorry it's taken me so long to get around to commenting on this. I've been through a month of straight hell lately so I've been really bad on comments.
I wish I could feel what this photograph represents, I wish I could put myself into it. I love the lighting you decided to wait for with this. Taken just an hour before or an hour later and it wouldn't have worked right.
The landscaping goes up, which furthers the enlightened and floating feel of the photo. Most photos with landscapes like this just look crooked or cockeyed but this works. I think it would be better without the lense in her hand so you could see her fingers spread in the air, but I guess that's just a live and learn kind of thing.
Best wishes to you and your lady.

hehe well that's pretty interesting. It looks like the area is a big open field of grass, which provides some problems in my head. but not too big of a deal. This photo really does have that "It's finally over!" feeling to it. I think you portrayed what you where trying to well but there's still some confusing things in my head. I think it's just the open field and the natural surrounding with the mixture of urban school work.

Looks pretty great.
I really like how those objects look like they are positioned exactly to be there, if that makes any sence at all. And of course the espression from * missdaisy is just really sets this piece and her silhouette.
The only thing I don't like in this photo, is how her hand came out, looks like a fist.
An excellent capture though.

Reminds me of an old movie called "The Paper Chase". Have you seen it?

Nathan, this has got to be among the most stunning and marvelous pieces you've ever done. I am positively floored.
Is the lens a problem? Sort of. It makes that hand seem like a fist, and that's relatively contrary to what you've got going on. But it also adds a dimension of complication to the symbology, so it's not all bad. (If you hadn't mentioned it, we'd surely all be knocking ourselves out trying to figure out what you intended with it, and that wouldn't entirely suck. )
Other than that, sheer brilliance, to my eye. Many mention liking the silhouettte, but not why. It's that by reducing away the photorealistic depth to your subject, you iconicize her instead. People are drawn to that because they can more easily insert themselves into the result, and for an image so sweeping as this, it's magically successful.
I think the sky exposure is plenty perfect enough for me. The conjunction of clouds to her hand motions (esp. the rightward one) is wonderful, and I lean toward "darker rather than lighter" precisely for the key brights shining out better as they do here.
My main concern, going right down to your fundamental concept, is that I think this probably would have benefit from being aimed the other way, with her expression aimed rightward "into the future" rather than leftward "into the past." Simply flipping this result is too late - you took the shot and it's most correct this way (I checked) - but it'd be something to keep in mind in the future (no pun intended.) Fortunately, though, this image is so fantastic that what might sink a lesser execution is merely a trivial concern in this case - your single conceptual flaw is completely overcome by the dazzling result.
Stunning from you, Nathan, perhaps the most beautifully artistic thing I've ever seen you do.

and then you go on about my 'fun' comments.
if you produce stuff like this, and i didn't comment well, i would kick myself in the ass.
well, i can't exactly do that, so i'd get somebody else to.
_________
you were one of the first ppl on dA i knew, before i joined even.
you and *hawkboi were amazing-as-fuck photographers, but i really liked your sunset shots (if you have any and i'm not confusing you with someone else) and silhouettes too.
this is nothing less.
really gorgeous nate.
so much energy and life in the shot; the sunset, the clouds, the model, all have so much life in them.
silhouettes i feel, bring out more than intended of something, and always bring out more life.
and yet again, this is nothing else.
jensey really does seem carefree and happy and full of life and movement and energy.
the sunset is really beautiful, to me, because only one (well two, but it's kinda the same one) cloud is really lit up with the light of the setting sun.
which really makes it so much more, different and unique.
i really like your shots nate, because not only are the awesome to look at, i'm usually looking for something different and unique in them, and most of them time, i get that unique thing, which i guess is one of the pros of watching you.
now, if you'll excuse me, i have do 20 lines of french, so i don't fail.
