I was trained to use a lot of different weapons as the situation calls for it.

Somewhat. I trained more specifically in Kenjutsu, but only dabbled in a little bit of Kendo. The former allowed me to use a much wider variety of weaponry, as well as adapt the style my teacher used to suit myself. Plus, I find the armor for it too cumbersome to be practical in self-defense training.
That, and I didn't have to change schools to practice Bojutsu or Naginatajutsu(which I felt would be smart to take, seeing as most cities won't allow me to carry around a 3 foot sword).
