I hated that game. I still have the manual in almost perfect condition. The game itself hasn't been touched in years. I have very little patience for resource management games that keep throwing stuff at you without giving you a chance to recuperate. In my opinion the Wing Commander series was one of the best space shooters of all time. It was very
re-playable. It is the criterion by which I judge all space shooters. Very good drawing

I assume you stuck on mission 4, on every mission you should preserve as much ship as possible, you can also capture enemy ships, the ion cannons that attack you on mission 3 are very important assert in the next mission. You should also collect all the resources before hyperspace, don't build collectors just leave them running for an hour while you go do something else. Large group of fighters are a serious threat, so don't just attack with capital ships. I often wait or lure enemy near the mothership, with mothership taking hit I don't have to risk losing attack ships, also the mothership was excellence defense against fighters and converts. Repair was cost free so take advantage of that. I beat the game twice during high school years. It require some thinking and kinda slow pasted.

Very good advice but ten years too late. Macs aren't compatible with any of my old games. you should post it online because I have never found a walk through book for Home world. Well at least I can brag about beating the Myst Series. It was irritating but addictive. I even bought the 10th anniversary addition.

I stupidly purchased a Mac, when my beloved Micron PC. broke down. That's what I get for buying into the hype without first researching the product. There aren't a lot of games made for Mac The ones they do have are old (like GTA San Andreas) or just lame. I went online there's, not a lot of choices. I even bought Parallels for mac and partitioned off my mac so I could play my old games on my mac. It really worked crappy, and after a week on the phone with customer service I just said I want a refund. So I am now the proud owner of a hundred games that I like and can not play,Grrrrrrrr.

Game is the least thing I worry about, the real shit come form the practicality, there isn't much utility software for Mac, if you want to do "anything" you almost have to resort to PC. Also expect the Mac version of anything to be more expansive.
