For those of you who don't recognize this guy, it's Vito Corleone from The Godfather (portrayed by Marlon Brando).

I'm sorry, but I can't give you permission to use that image. It's something spacial for me and I don't want it to be used for anything I don't know every detail of.
I hope you understand.
But I do feel honored by you asking me for permission.

Vito Andolini, named Corleone by the man at Ellis Island{as seen in The Godfather Part II}. A great man, fictional, but great. He is one of those literary characters that will live on forever, Marlon Brando really brought the character to life, and you have given great tribute to the man and the character. The colors are wonderful, and this is veryy well done.

Hi! Followed your link from the comments on the tutorial. They should have used yours as the example. EXCELLENT way to present the technique artistically.

hey, thank you I tried to use the technique and avoid just copying it, I hope I accomplished that

avant5 In reply to 2-0-1-9 [2010-09-17 07:27:06 +0000 UTC]

I think you did! I looked at the others people posted. Two things stood out to me on yours. The text you used for the title, and the white space on either side of the profile.

The Obama technique gets copied a lot, but they use the same HOPE text and the profile is very tight with the edges.

Yours stands out as a use of the technique, but without being a different face on the same old cloned poster.

i've always admired artists who could do vectors such as this one, using only two colors and creating this awesome effect of very vivid and distinct lights and shadows i guess it must be harder than a realistic painting, because you have to know exactly where to stop with the dark areas and begin with the light or change the colors, without using any blending. for me, staring at a drawing like this is simply fascinating
i also like the poster look of it, as if it were made for a theater or a show... or even some Godfather-ish goods
