Description This is an example of the ( Sad) story of animation .
Its amazing the low standards we have today , on the drawing point of views .

Of course , some modern cartoons have great scripts , but the limited animation is something that really bothers me .
since the days of the old Hanna Barbera.

well , I guess most of you will be here in 2027 to see if my prediction of simple solid characters will appear on tv shows .

But , for my last prediction .....who knows .....
looks like pink bunnies will always be here .

The one from 1960 looks like she was the original inspiration for Babs Bunny. Could you provide a link to this character, please?

I searched here and it seems that she is only a drawing of a birthday card. She's holding Bugs Bunny's hand, also.

In 2027, We'd be having holograms already... I have this feeling stage theatre will won't be same again.

Some cartoons lack detail? Go watch "Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack". LOTS of detail there.

That’s the thing with TV animation. Go to see stuff like Princess and the Frog and the designs, timing and acting are as awesome as good old Disney.
In fact, TV animation in the 90s was much better than 70s and 80s... Maybe we will have a new golden age of TV animation someday…

it all depends on the budget and technologies

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

NeterG In reply to Sekele [2011-06-15 21:34:51 +0000 UTC]

Those are extremely important but not always the only factor. The new Shrek movies have more budget and technology than the first Toy Story or The Lion King.

well, I thought we were talking about the quality of animation

as far as writing goes, I think we already are in a new golden age
(at least as far as my personal preferences go)

NeterG In reply to Sekele [2011-06-15 23:48:52 +0000 UTC]

I was we were talking about the quality of animation

Also, how are we in a new golden age of writing? Pixar scripts are good like 10 years ago and Dreamworks scripts are bland like 10 years ago, they are just comedies now...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Sekele In reply to NeterG [2011-06-16 21:37:44 +0000 UTC]

Well, I did enjoy a few of the Dreamworks movies allot.
Antz, the first two Shrek movies, Kung Fu Panda, Monsters vs Aliens, How to Train Your Dragon, Megamind
I actually rank those movies as superior to stuff like Cars, or even A Bug's Life

And with the writing I was mostly referring to TV shows (since that's what this deviation was about), which I believe have gotten pretty good recently

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

NeterG In reply to Sekele [2011-06-17 02:00:17 +0000 UTC]

Cars and Bug’s Life are extremely subpar for Pixar movies. I do enjoyed Antz, Shrek 1 and 2 and even Kung Fu Panda but find the others to be painfully formulaic and coward.

As for the TV writing, I do agree! I’m just sad Bruce Timm had left the small screen...

I still think they are pretty hood as far as today's CG flicks are concerned

As far as Bruce Timm is concerned, he's currently working on the new Green Lantern animated series

not really, he just picked the most jarring examples, and conveniently left-out the more detailed recent efforts

not to mention that some of the examples were completely ripped out of context

exactly, i discussed this with my brother some years ago, the animation they had in the 90's and late 80's was very impressive ( on MOST cases) but now everything is very flat and unisnpired.. just for the heck of it.. sell sell sell..

meh... I got another year of highschool then basic college then got another 4 years to get my masters... I'm sure something will be there in my life later on. I already am part of an illustration team for a children's story so maybe that might help

Sekele In reply to trippinxtremezebra [2011-06-15 21:22:06 +0000 UTC]

illustration might work for you, but the animation industry has been hell ever since the late 90s

the funding is really bad

Sekele In reply to trippinxtremezebra [2011-06-22 20:48:51 +0000 UTC]

I think the shows are good as far as the writing goes, but they are heavily limited in the animation department by the lack of funding

trippinxtremezebra In reply to Sekele [2011-06-22 21:11:28 +0000 UTC]

the writing is good, yup, gotta agree with that. but the quality is lacking in the animation

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Sekele In reply to trippinxtremezebra [2011-06-22 21:46:55 +0000 UTC]

it's all about the money
Symbionic Titan for example was cancelled because it cost more money to make it than it earned

note that this is what lead to many of the 90s studios to go bankrupt, so one can't exactly ague with it

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

trippinxtremezebra In reply to Sekele [2011-06-22 23:40:33 +0000 UTC]

yeah even anime is starting to lose its magical artistic value, though not as bad as the toons here.

everything is going bankrupt these days.
