I often find it's atheists who make the most out of religious concepts and do it well, even if they aren't trying to deliver a message, I think they appreciate most the aesthetic behind angels and demons.

Why would you assume your watchers would see a religious message in the first place? Give us some credit.

To be honest, people find religious messages in everything even not remotely religious. And there really is no way to predict who is really watching that kind of art. So it's pretty reasonable to assume that some people could see a religious message in a drawing like this.
Not all watchers are the same. And furthermore there is nothing wrong in seeing a religious meaning in that kind of art.

I never think of religion when looking at winged beings. There are too many religions that exist with some kind of winged creature/being. Actually, I think all of them do...dunno. ^^'Β
