Description After the War of 1810 (also known as the African Coast War), The British Navy was in shambles. American ships were strange and new. They were considerably faster, yet unfathomably stronger. The British then turned to fight on land. The African started initially with great success. But the American Campaign suffered greatly. When British forces in Canada were defeated in the Battle of Quebec, Canada had officially surrendered to the United States. Three months later, several American ships appeared on the horizon of the African coast. The war was over in 1815, and the British had lost Canada as well as her West African Ports.

In the United States, Minnesota annexed land from Canada and claimed more. Many states believed that Canada would be granted independence. President Monroe was inaugurated the day the war ended. His inauguration speech, known around the world as the Monroe Doctrine, laid the foundation for the future growth of the United States. Within his first couple days as President, Monroe redrew the boundaries of many territories. The Louisiana Territory was renamed the Indian Territory. The Canadian Territory was expanded at the Expense of Rupert's Land. The Northern Boundary of the Oregon Country was moved farther north. Newfoundland was broken away from the Canadian Territory. The Canadian, Oregon, Indian, and Newfoundland Territories were organized and incorporated into the United States. In Africa, The United States Army and Marine Corps expanded the gains made from the British. Fighting with the Native Africans was fierce. But when the boundaries established by the treaty were met, many Africans voluntarily moved into the American colonies, where their standard of living vastly improved. The African Colony was divided into five distinct territories; Pepper Coast, Grain Coast, Ivory Coast, Gold Coast, and Slave coast. Each territory was named based on its chief export.

In 1820, The United States signed a treaty that established the borders of New Spain and the Indian Territory of the United States. Mere months later, Mexico had declared, and won, their independence from Spain. Mexico established several new territories; Mexico, California, Colorado, Texas, and Guatemala (Formerly Yucatan-Panama). In 1830, Texas gained their independence from Mexico, yet continued to lay claim to more land. In 1832, Andrew Jackson lobbyed on behalf of Texas to the Mexican government for the country to have access to the Rio Grande for trade purposes. Jackson left Mexico with a treaty that meant little, if anything, to the Texans and Mexicans. Both nations continued to argue over the border of the new country. When Texas applied for admission to the union in 1834, Jackson lead Congress to temporarily halt the admission of the country, on the grounds that its dispute with Mexico had to be settled.

Martin Van Buren was elected President in 1835, and he continued to refuse Texan admission to the Union. In 1837, President Van Buren bought two strips of land from Portugal in Columbia (OTL South America). Both coasts, known as the Coffee and Tobacco Coasts, fell under the same department as the African Colonies, and under the direct administration of the President.

On Thanksgiving Day, 1839, Mexico attacked the Alamo Fort at San Antonio, Texas. Mexican authorities had authorized the attack to end Texan Raids on Mexican ships traveling down the Rio Grande. All men within the fort, Including Kentucky Native Davy Crockett, were killed. On January 15th, 1840, President Tyler accepted Texan admission to the Union, with assurances that the Issues of previous attempts had been settled. That same day, Texas declared war on Mexico. The next day, the newspapers flooded with both reports. Texas was to be fully annexed and admitted as a state 20th. But Now, The United States was at war with the Federation of Mexico.

Great Britain was still reeling from her second defeat to the United States. Though Britain had annexed India, Other powers simply invaded and established their own Port Colonies. in 1838, Great Britain, along with the other European Powers, signed the Treaty of Amsterdam, which established the final borders of many colonies in the old world. Somalia and Eritrea were divided amongst the Europeans, as was the end of the Arabian Peninsula, from Aden to Qatar. However, the African Continent at large, had yet to be colonized...

Side Note: Russia reannexed the West Coast of Baikal from Qing China. And Italy invaded and conquered Serbia, fearing they would interfere with Italian Expansion. France and Spain are in contest over their border in the Pyrenees.

EDIT: And i forgot to mention the East African Earthquake...

Interesting... may wanna change the Somali border though... unrealistic for the time period. The Ogaden and Kenya were basically empty.

Earlier colonization. These are the treaty zones that were developed. American delegates forced them to that border to retain Ethiopian sovereignty.
