I dunno, i dont think I have anything all that innovative as far as work goes, but yea, i'd have to agree with you on that point, many people on this site are great artists but go unnnoticed. The recent poll they had on the main page asked if deviant admins were doing a good job at featuring all sorts of work from many different artists, and the poll came back saying they were doing a bad job at it. Just goes to show you how this site works, a bit of a bureacracy if you ask me.
As with most things though, its not what you do, its who you know, and if you know the admins here, chances are your work will get featured at some point or another.
