I'm not quite sure. I liked the very casual and short tone when it came to events that had a great emotional significance, and how you could put down half a life in those few lines; how quickly time passed when it was just birthdays with nothing in between. Also, the place of art in his life as something so uplifting, just the first four sentences really caught me. But in general there was just an atmosphere about it that really drew me in.
