I haven't seen anything new in a while. Are you posting stuff in a new place now? How's life? I watched the latest House last night, and since it was about a ren faire, I thought of you.

I haven't taken much artistic stuff lately. I'm currently editing the photos from my best friends wedding...where I was THE photographer. I gotta get them to her first. Maybe I'll post here eventually. I just want real feedback and never seem to get it. Unless you've got any suggestions on places to post photos?

Then you're way ahead of me I keep saying I'm going to take some autumn shots but I think I've lost all the beautiful leaves by now. I should do more to help people enjoy Iowa, it's really quite lovely most of the year.

Bloody life getting in the way of art and geekery. Unfair.

I recently also 'joined' Facebook (under duress). It's horrific, but utterly wonderful and addictive at the same time.

lol, yeah, people in large numbers can be scary. My friend and sister think I should join Myspace too but I just can't bring myself to do it. Especially when one of my other friends is being stalked by her ex, he reads her blog and txts and calls her telling her he misses her or that she's a whore and shouldn't be going out all the time. Definitely scares me. That's why I didn't mind Facebook, because I can control who sees my info

Oh wow, I guess I've fallen off the face of the earth huh? The holidays are so busy plus wedding planning, I had no idea how hard it is!!!
You having fun on break? Hopefully you'll get time to take some fun family photos. It's definitely good practice.
Oh and I have some fun art news that I'll try to get posted soon...hopefully it will mean new deviations for everyone to enjoy [and not just pics of my grandma]

lindebrand In reply to cera [2006-12-24 23:34:57 +0000 UTC]

Heh, I can only guess ^^.

Yeah, my break just started this friday, so I have only been on holiday for 3 days ^^.

Good ;D. I'll be looking forward to it ^^.

And my father said I'm going to get money as a delayed christmas-gift. I hope it's plenty of it so I might afford a new camera!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cera In reply to lindebrand [2006-12-28 16:05:11 +0000 UTC]

sweet! A new camera is definitely a good Christmas present, even if you just bought it with gift money. Heck, maybe better that way since you'll get exactly what you want

I got an extra day off of work [didn't know until after I got to work that I didn't have to be there] and spent most of it doing laundry. Oh well, wouldn't have gotten done otherwise!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

lindebrand In reply to cera [2006-12-29 00:11:50 +0000 UTC]

Yeah . I don't think it will be enough money for a new camera but still, it's always something!
I have been dreaming like a madman about a new camera this last week, having lot's of ideas and such. Now I just need the camera, and models ><;

Heh, I have been helping my father clean the house now before New Year, we are going to have guests .
What do you plan to do?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cera In reply to lindebrand [2007-01-02 18:34:52 +0000 UTC]

well the money can make a previously too expensive camera become affordable I've done TONS of research, now I just need $2000

For New Year's we hung out with a bunch of friends and played Wii games and my party favorite, Apples to Apples. We almost forgot what time it was and turned on the tv for the countdown with just a minute to spare
I hope you had fun with your guests, hopefully it wasn't all boring parent-y stuff all night

lindebrand In reply to cera [2007-01-03 00:35:02 +0000 UTC]

Hehe, what camera do you plan on getting?

Ahh, I'd love a Wii . I love the Zelda games . No idea what Apples to Apples is though .

Nah, it's alright ^^. My cousin was here aswell with her boyfriend, she is only 1 year older then me

cera In reply to lindebrand [2007-01-03 23:11:06 +0000 UTC]

Apples to Apples is a card game where you find out how sick-minded/crazy your friends are

And I haven't played Zelda but I've watched Jon play and it's pretty awesome. I'm a Spyro girl myself

... Your DA screenname is my real first name. Just thought I'd point that out. It startled me to see my name on a page, especially since it is exceedingly rare.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cera In reply to Raetona [2006-09-28 18:05:52 +0000 UTC]

lol, sorry for stealing your thunder. I think I originally got the spelling from shortening my nickname ,from elementary,"cereal" and then remembered that the Triceratops in "Land Before Time" was named "Cera". Years later I found that my favorite author, Anne McCaffrey, used the name "Cera" in her Tower and the Hive series. I believe Cera is the Rowan's oldest daughter.
Nicknames don't stick for long with me [don't know why] so when I started using the internet "cera" became my online name. Since then I've grown attached to a play on my last name, which I use for everything else now...but it'll be changing next year so I'll have to come up with something else

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Raetona In reply to cera [2006-09-29 04:12:39 +0000 UTC]

I don't think you stole my thunder, you just surprised me.

I need to read that book, Anne McCaffrey is one of my favorite authors as well, I love the Dragonriders of Pern series, she is a wonderful writer, and if she has used my name, maybe I can use that to say that it is a real name, and that my mother didn't just make it up. (Even though she probably did).

You are the second person I've found online who uses the spelling cera. I hope it doesn't catch on too much, I like having a unique name.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

cera In reply to Raetona [2006-10-04 19:16:46 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, off the top of my head the series goes "The Rowan", "Damia", "Damia's Children", "Lyon's Pride", "Tower and the Hive"...I think that's it. I haven't read the Pegasus series yet, which is a precursor to the Tower and Hive series. Just start with the Rowan and you'll be fine. They're great books, but then I love anything that comes from Anne McCaffrey, haven't decided about Todd yet. His additions to Pern haven't focused on dragons very much which is interesting...but not why most of us love the series.
I just recently reread the "Ender's Game" and Bean series and now that I think about it they are very similar in content to Tower and the Hive. Not sure which was written first though.

Well let me know what you think if you get a chance to read them. My sister lent me her Robert Jordan Wheel of Time books [ALL of them] and I'm starting to really enjoy the first one...of course right after that I found book three of David/Leah Eddings Dreamers series at the library and checked it out. A book I "want" to read but I'm not really excited to read...if that makes sense.
There's another good author for you, David Eddings. The Belgariad and the Elenium are his best series so far [as well as their companion books] but this new series, the Dreamers feels really recycled. Like his just put all his old characters in a blender and then dumped it on the pages. I have to read it though because I do want to know how it ends

lol, the way I'm going I should start a dA book club...has nothing to do with creating art, only appreciating it.

I am in love with the "Ender's Game" Series, and the original Pern trilogy. I am someone who loves the core pieces to things, books beyond that have tons of entertainment value, but I don't feel as connected to them.

I will have to look up that series at my library though, because I know I would love it, and it would be fairly novel to see my name on a page somewhere.

lol, that's not as easy as it sounds in small town Iowa. I feel so intrusive taking pictures of strangers, and I don't many friends that I'm comfortable enough with to ask to take pictures of them. I'm a little afraid they'd ask to see what I came up with and it won't be good [my camera doesn't like moving subjects without very good lighting, aka sunlight]
