Love your work! Would you consider joining the painted-ladies group [link] and adding several of your pictures there (don't worry about the limit for now)?

how skilled are you at sculpting? I enjoy your deviations.

I am not a sculptor and have never tried it. Those devs that look like sculptures are life castings. Just curious, why do you ask? Also, thanks for liking my humble offerings.

They are very well done. I only ask because I was trying to be a sculptor and a complete amateur I am. How did you get into Casting n e way?

Your gallery is honestly a sight for sore eyes. It is a shame you live so far, I would love to pose for a portrait.

Thank you so much. That means a lot, especially coming from such an amazing artist as yourself. Your gallery is truly inspiring!
If you don't mind me asking, did you study art in college or anything like that?
π: 0 β©: 1
amilkozinsky In reply to cmryan1 [2007-08-16 05:18:04 +0000 UTC]
Not in college, I was a chemistry major. I first took a drawing class, spent four years practicing then took painting classes from an atelier. Don't expect academics to teach squat about producing art, only about talking about art. The old maxim, "If you can't do, teach. If you can't teach, teach teachers". Are you thinking about art school?

Leti,
Life is good. Too much work at day slave job, but overtime pay is great. I am taking one week off later this week for vacation. I will hang out with Austin Burning Man people, a celebration of radical creativity. 'Wish you could be here.

An intrigueing proposition. I would gladly host any visitors who wish to see the better side of the USA than what you see on the news.
Let's think about it.

Selma,
I think I just sent you a note that was for someone else. OOPS! Anyway, your English is much better than my Lithuanian. You sound like you will make a great, passionate anarchist.

I'd love to attend, but I'm stuck in Arlington for the now. Your work is amazing, though! I loved the exaggerated nude, the brush strokes were wonderful. Are you by any chance apart of the Bastrop Art Guild?

textphish In reply to textphish [2007-02-15 23:44:38 +0000 UTC]
-nods- I'm sorry it was boring. Hopefully the next one will be more lively. I'm not apart of the guild either, but everytime I walk through Bastrop I try to go through the gallery. I thought your work looked familiar and thought I'd ask. Perhaps my brain is sludge, though, it's been a busy week.

I just came across your comment. The opening was pretty boring even for Bastrop area. I don't belong to the guild... too many bluebonnets.

i just really enjoy your work is all, ive never been able to paint, but i really like your style, very much. and your sculpture.....well, you know

amilkozinsky In reply to lynxie06 [2006-07-02 04:15:50 +0000 UTC]
Painting is all about seeing. If you can see to sculpt you can see to paint. You just haven't discovered the techniques yet.

lynxie06 In reply to amilkozinsky [2006-07-02 05:39:03 +0000 UTC]
haha, i cant see to sculpt. how did you discover the techniques?
π: 0 β©: 1
amilkozinsky In reply to lynxie06 [2006-07-04 00:02:43 +0000 UTC]
I assume you meant, "I CAN see to sculpt", since you clearly have game. Techniques are usually learned from a teacher, not discovered. Anyway, painting is like about 5% technique. Once your brain can see, it is almost all practice and hard work. Atelier programs are really good for learning how to excel in an art medium. Universities almost always specialize in teaching you how to talk about art. I have yet to find one that isn't completely worthless for a practicing artist of any merit.
Just my humble opinion.
Let me know of your progress by keeping up the posts.
