you're welcome- I work in Acrylics a little myself but I have to say your work - how you handle acrylics- has definitely given me some interesting ideas. It almost looks like watercolors in some areas- I didn't even know you could get that kind of effect with acrylics.

I paint in layers. many, many layers. I mix the paint either with water or gel medium. this would then be alternated with opaque color. It is fun!!

Sounds cool- I've played around with mixinf crushed pastels with water in the past- but I've never tried doing so with acrylics- its definitely something to consider in the future. Have a question though- if you mixed the acrylics with gel medium wouldn't the result be rather sticky & dry quickly. I'm wondering how you handle that re: your brushes.
But yes it definitely sounds fun- and like it takes a great deal of skill, as evidt in your paintings.

There are different thicknesses of gel medium. I prefer the regular. Not sure what it is called,but it is not the thick. Here you can buy it in a tube or a bucket. The advantage to using the medium is that it goes where you want,as it then has the consistency of paint. Water is more difficult to control. Sometimes you don't mind, but sometimes you want more control. I always wet my brushes and rinse them off constantly. Acrylic does dry quickly. If you make a mistake, just wait and paint over!

This is so cool- and its definitely given me a lot to think about (and this is my senior year coming up so I'm probably going to be crazy busy working on my senior year project and not have much time to paint for myself) but this is giving me a crazy amount of ideas for once I've gotten past the Mt. Everest that is Senior Year
