# About me
Um, hello! I'm a little shy, but I am eager to meet new friends and to practice my drawing skills. My Pokesona is actually a duo of Pokemon, to represent two halves of my personality; they are Lapigust the Buneary and Glowgale the Vulpix.Zeliwind

Oh my! All of your art looks so nice, and you have even already done my favorites in your style!
I have not seen a Lopunny in your drawings, though, and I would love to see one drawn in your style! Could you do that one? Thank youuuu!

I don't think I told you this already, so I will now: welcome to DeviantART! How do you like the site so far?
I know I met a lot of new friends and acquaintances here on just this one website during the years I've been here. I think you will, also!

Well, that's good! By chance are you relatively new to the whole online community thing?

I'm- I'm not, actually. It's kind of a long story, and, um, I have been a part of deviantART and other communities before, but I'm just kind of... looking to start over and just put it all behind me.
I just hope that this time of getting back into the "online community" is, um, nicer than last time? ... At least so far it's off to a good start.

Ah, I see. That's totally understandable...I have quite a few things from my internet-community-past that I am maybe a little ashamed of as well. Then again, I was rather young, so yeah! Ahahah, good times....
I'm sorry if it seems like I'm attempting to disclose this, but I'm guessing that maybe you stepped foot into the wrong community or something along the lines of that? Some communities are filled with complete jerks.... For some, TSR is a good example, but truth is once you get to know them all, they're all really awesome. They just have a bit of a superiority complex. But yeah, I digress! I've run into an asshole-community or two. If you'd like, I could tell you about what happened between me and this one asinine staff member. At the time it really made me mad.
And that's good. If you ever want to talk about anything, just let me know!

I would say it happens to the best of us.
I think a lot of my, um, starting anew stems from disappointing people and letting them down... I stayed out of drama for the most part, and I always meant well, but, I, oh, I don't know...
Superiority complexes are really intimidating. I've never been in the community of TSR, but I have visited their site and I do see some potential for ego there, although I would imagine it stems from the time and effort it takes to rip sprites from games like that... or make new ones.
I don't mind a good story, too! If you want to tell it, that is.

I see. That's understandable. What would make people think you were letting them down, though?
Sorry if I seem a little nosy; please don't hesitate to say if the questioning is getting a little too invasive. I just go by the whole thing where asking questions is a great way to get to know people and keep good conversations going.
Yes, they kinda are a little bit intimidating, aren't they?
I think that it just has to do with the forum itself. The community in general has been around for quite a few years, thus I'm sure they've just developed their own "cult following" type of thing. I think that they just have a really dry and quirky sense of humor is all, and they don't mean any harm.
Okay. It was this one forum that went by the name of "Ultimate Chao Garden." At the time, there was a co-admin there who was a real dickwad...any sprite that is edited or appears to be edited from an existing one he always referred to as "recolors."
But that really isn't what got to me. When I posted a thread with all these Chao edits that I had made at the time, he posted something like, "Just A Bunch Of Recolors As Far As I Can See." (At the time, that really damaged my ego, but now I honestly can see where he was coming from)
Anyways, that's not what crossed the line. He must have had a rather cruel sense of humor, so he literally edited my thread title to say, instead of something like "My sprites and pixel art," He changed it to, "My recolors and pixel art." Funny how the main admin really didn't do anything about it...then again, he probably didn't notice.
I dunno what was with that kid, but man oh man, he was really big-headed. Like, he had an ego the size of a hot air baloon.

You're not being too nosy at all. You're very respectful, and I appreciate that. I'm trying to remember, specifically... it's been such a long time, it is all kind of fuzzy now. I've tried to forget about it for awhile. I think that trying too hard to keep people happy, particularly when it can feel like a lot of people, was just very difficult on me. I remember disappointing friends back then by not getting around to reading thousands of words of whatever fanfic it was they were working on, because I had several asking... every night... I wanted to make them happy, by showing an interest, and seeing if I could give them input, but when it all keeps stacking up, I only felt like I was letting them down. I know there is more to it than just that; general feelings of unappreciation or 'fake' appreciation just kind of took hold after awhile.
Some communities do tend to have their own odd ways of communicating. It's good that TSR is mostly all in good fun. Sarcasm can be funny!
Aww, that guy does sound like a real jerk! Editing people's posts like that is wrong and NOT cool! It seems like maybe he was not well fit for his job, then, despite what his ego may have told him?

Okay, well that's good to know.
Ah, I see....
Well, you know what? It's true when people say that "you can't please everyone." It's a bit difficult though, because generally as a person you DO want to try to do that.
But, you also have to stand up for yourself too. You do what you want to, but it's not as if I advise...erm, some type of destructive behavior or anything. xD
Sometimes, though, you have to stand up for yourself, like I said. If you have free time and a friend asks you a favor, by all means try to see what you can do. But if you're busy or have more important things to worry about, you have to gently tell them. It's tricky at first, but get this: obviously if they were your real friends, then they would understand to some degree and wouldn't get upset with you or anything.
Worrying about the hypothetical if not just totally non-existent is something that will eat at you very badly. Trust me, I would know. But...after a while, I learned to just tackle everything one thing at a time. Enjoy the moment while it lasts, because the past is irreversible (literally speaking).
I hope I helped out.
Yes, they do indeed. And yeah, I love a good bout of dry humor myself. Dry humor is just one of those things where everyone's equally gonna get made fun of, but there's no harm in it. I love laughing at myself every now and then.
Yeah, I know, right? But...I think we were all just young at the time, so of course some of us had superiority complexes at the time...I'm sure that either that factor just applied, or it was just his possible offbeat sense of humor that thought that would be funny to some degree or another. It was rather uncalled for, though; that I agree with you on.

Zeliwind In reply to SassySnivy [2012-03-11 22:44:54 +0000 UTC]
Thank you. I understand that one of the elements of myself that I need to work on is learning how to stand up for myself and not be a doormat.
Dry humor can be wonderful in an environment where everyone is on the same page. If everyone isn't, surely there will be the "You must be new here" glance. Who knows, maybe that person wasn't actually some egotistical maniac, but just poked around and made it look like that. Sometimes nice people act like, um, mean people just as a part of their persona, or just going back to that dry humor point (at least how it is applied). Oh well, as you said, it is all in the past, and the past is irreversible.

SassySnivy In reply to Zeliwind [2012-03-11 23:34:34 +0000 UTC]
Yeah. In fact, you've seen "Putting Your Hoof Down," right? When you said, "doormat," you TOTALLY made me think of that episode!
Anyways, no one can blame you, because it's not an overnight thing...of course, nor is it impossible. It's just one of those things that, at first, you have to consciously make an effort to do.
That reminds me, remember how we were talking about "feigning confidence" when you're alone and kinda unsure of yourself? Well, I'm quite sure you've also heard the saying: "fake it 'til you make it."
For some instances, that can really help. If you fake a confident disposition, it can really actually change your mood so that you DO feel more confident. I've experienced it before.
And yes, I agree: dry humor is indeed something that the other person has to be on the same page as you. When I make a dry remark and people around me don't get it, I'm all, "Oh...*ahem* eh, nevermind. >.> "

Yes, absolutely, I made that reference from that episode. It was a nice episode, but it is also one of the things that has gotten me to realize what a doormat I am, so while it kind of bummed me out at first, I am now looking to work on that and stop being a doormat!
Normally I do fake a confident disposition, because, also like we were talking about, you draw a lot less attention to yourself when you don't look uncomfortable or uneasy. But I want to get to the point where I don't have to fake it. That is why, over here, my goal is to let the shy side of me out and to work with it rather than ignore it, until I eventually improve.
Having a good backstroke in a situation like that (the dry humor thing) is definitely a good thing!

Hahahah, I found that episode to be quite hilarious in all honesty. Same with yesterday's episode, it was really...different. I liked it.
That's good!
Yes, that is indeed very true!
I feel that if you do fake it enough, you'll just eventually trick yourself into thinking it. That's basically what I was getting at! That and it takes a bit of practice.
That sounds like a very reasonable goal to attain.
Indeed!

Indeed! Any episode with crazy Twilight is amazing! She is so funny when she is freaking out about things, or making lists.
I have tried that faking thing before, for a lot of my life, really, and while it does produce a result, it doesn't change who you are deep down. And that is what I want to improve. (I don't believe anyone should have to change.) I will just keep at it, though!
