I've been working on them as well for the past while, I'll be drawing my graduating class as mass effect species, and making life-sized cut outs of each of them.
Speaking of which, what species is your favourite? Mine's the krogan, honourable, beastly, skull cracking turtle people. What's not to love?

the Krogan were actually based on bats. Really cool.
hmmm... in turns of visual the Turians are pretty awesome. Though including backstory,culture, etc I'd go with the Krogan. The Genophage is a tragic thing.
Plus the thought of the Krogan Ancients in Mass Effect 3 is pretty awesome.

Yeah, I actually always thought their faces looked like bats, but I did take care of a bat for a while, so I've seen close-ups.
Turians were apparently based on birds (again no surprise for me), and they incorporate those beastly hawk eyes perfectly. I got to admit they look pretty cool, but I still hate them for condemning my krogan brethren to extinction.

Maroon is my favorite color and Red is the closest soo.. Red. :3
I'd say the Salarians had more into it since they made it, Krogan seem to despise them much more. Though I guess since both the Krogans and Turians are combat races then it's a pride wound.

Ah, I picked blue, the control ending was so cool with the Extended cut.
Well the Salarians designed it, however the Turians were the ones who used it. The salaries intended for it to be a mere threat, and never actually deploy it, however the Turians leaped at the opportunity.
Now that I'm a Reaper (the ruler of the all in existence), I will demand one turian, or one salarian life for each baby krogan stillborn.
MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAAH!
