Hi. I have a question. You are a digital artist in Cali correct? Is it possible to find a job in cg industry without any experience? In computer animation field? Is absence of experience a big deal?

Although I wouldn't call myself an expert on the CG field, I have talked to a few professionals who gave me some info. Basically they told me your modeling skills are more important than any experience or education (although they tend to go hand in hand). Its important to have a good advanced knowledge of Maya (the "big-boy" of 3D modeling programs). Having good traditional art skills is also important, since texturing is a significant part of 3D animation. From what I understand, the way to break into the business is to put together an animation demo that shows off your skills and send it to any companies that might be hiring. It might take some persistence, but you will get in if you are good enough. I hope this info helps!

Well... the only thing I worry about is traditional art skills,. I can sketch, but I am not very good at it. I know Maya pretty well, do enjoy modeling and love animation. My only problem is that I only been doing it for 6-7 month. Leaning it... not even working. So I am just not sure if I be able to compete with the rest of the industry.
