You bet. And it's understandable that some would have deviated from the path - whether by a little or a lot. It can be a huge time investment and the more pragmatic you are, the less likely "art" will be at the top of your list of priorities. There's nothing wrong with that; not everyone's situation is the same, and you gotta do what you gotta do.
Besides, if and when creativity starts clawing at you from the inside, and you can no longer ignore it, that'll be your motivation to buckle down and let it out. Until then, focus on all the other things that are important to you.
