Description Hopefully a bit less redundant-looking material this time, even though it is novel concept art in its essence. But I guess it can be taken out of the context as your generic fantasy scenery.

Anyhow, concept stuff as of how some parts of the palace of Tghuonegh'err, Lord of the Underworld of Rha-kan'Ocka, might look like (don't mind the stupid names, I shamelessly yoink material from the Finnish mythology). Light and shadow aren't that much supposed to follow any logical rules. Since when have supernatural phantasy places actually groveled before your standard schoolbook physics?

The Curse of Rha-kan'Ocka belongs to me.

Amazing! I love all the work you put into the textures on the walls and in the crystals. I love it!

Gosh, the depth of this pic is amazing! The crystals remind me of "Starcraft" game lol. Wonderful work!

Holy shit... What can I say? The colours on the pillars in the bg are just amazing! As well as the texture on the stone, and, well the entire pic. My first thought was that it was traditional work, the textre look so... real.

Thanks.
I do these from scratch with my Wacom, no traditional bits included at all. It has taken a few years from me to develop my current digipainting techniques, though. Been concentrating on a new texture layering scheme lately, which I tried out here.

The colours, the lighting, just gorgeous and so very unique. Gallery stuff, 1500€ a pop stuff. Do you ever have showings?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

zorm In reply to Hyel [2007-03-18 22:22:33 +0000 UTC]

Öö... never have had any showings. Besides, I do these entirely digitally, so I'd get only prints out if my ancient printer were of any good quality and I had a spare 50€ to put on a color cassette. I don't really have money to invest on traditional media either and real oils/acrylics reek too much, so I've just been drawing with my tablet, which is much faster too.

Thanks anyway.

Hyel In reply to zorm [2007-03-19 07:52:27 +0000 UTC]

Oh, you can get them printed at photo shops like FotoYks for less than a euro. If you want to sell or showcase, that is. What pixel width are your originals, usually? That might affect their printability.

Gotta take a look if the book stores over here have that one in English. Read a summary of it and it does sound pretty interesting.

Nice! Eerily beautiful. Probably not somewhere I'd want to go on a tour of fantasy courtyards, but still pretty in an odd way. I'll blame it on the wonky physics, just 'cause I can....

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

zorm In reply to KaliPhantom [2007-03-18 22:53:18 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. Heh, it's the domain of the dead after all, so it needs its high eeriness percentage. And who knows what scary things might lurk in those shadows, even if it looks all sparkly on the outside.

KaliPhantom In reply to zorm [2007-03-18 23:25:26 +0000 UTC]

Very true. Sparkly is designed specifically to obscure nasty. It's a tried and true fantasy method. All the evil people use it to some extent.

Its looks very beautiful. If only more caves like that existed nowadays.I *sighs* This picture also gives me an idea on how crystals are drawn. Job well done.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

zorm In reply to AlucardHemlock [2007-03-11 20:46:37 +0000 UTC]

Thanks.

Real crystals are much more irregular and have more edges, though, even if the growth model here is about correct. These are the kind of fantasy crystals that grow automatically to the refined shape. XD
