Actually it has all the elements the YF-29 Durandal represents.
The Durandal is a legendary French Sword hence the fleur de lis on the hilt of the sword, with the blade running through the traditional symbol of a double Vajra, denoting the fighter's specific role as an anti-Vajra weapon.
The YF-29 is somewhat a one of a kind fighter, built to combat Vajra specifically. Consequently, the battle with the Vajra ends by the final act of the movie, thus the usefulness of all the YF-29 advances become academic. Its destruction is also symbolic of how the fighter had outlived its usefulness.
