When Wrecker fought in a battle against Gamer, it was barely left functioning after escaping the hero. Wrecker made its way into an auto garage before deactivating from lack of power. When it powered up again, Wrecker found a woman working on him and panicked at having his inner workings exposed. Wrecker calmed down after his legs and and arm locked up. The woman examined him and managed to unlock his limbs again, earning Wrecker's trust. The woman was Grace Barris and she was an engineer working as a car mechanic in order to keep her late father's garage in her possession. She knew enough to fix Wrecker and even kept the robot a secret at a junkyard near by. Grace was fascinated by Wrecker and even like his personality as a gentle giant (sometimes) since it reminded her of her dad. With another fight between Gamer and Wrecker being inevitable, Grace developed some advanced repair tools and even mechanical arms for faster work. Making an exosuit of sorts, Grace has become Wrecker's one woman repair crew, Mechguard.

In Mechguard's tools, there is a wrist mounted welding torch, a wrist mounted gun for defense, magnetic boots, a claw arm for pulling out objects, and four fingered claw for precision work, a cutting device that gets through steel, and finally an electronic booster for electrical attacks and for jumpstarting Wrecker or other devices.
