Description We do love the extremes. Our favorite places to work in are rundown buildings where you run the risk of falling through the ground if you don't watch your step. It takes hours and hours to take one single picture, and sometimes we don't even get one done. We mostly work at night, and those are the longest and promising during winter when it's darn cold. We torture ourselves for who-knows-what-may-come but the outcomes do mostly satisfy us. At least to some level.

Enjoy this spintop, it was kinda cold that night, the tool froze just after a few minutes, but hey...we masochists don't cry, right?

As always this light painting was created only with light within one single exposure. The photograph was not digitally manipulated afterwards.

Haha, thank you, I'm glad you like it.
I (will) explain from time to time a few things on the development of the pictures, so keep on watching if you're interested.

Absolutely brilliant. Can I ask what you used to create the sparks effect? I'm assuming that it wasn't steel wool as there is no light trail and it is too white.

Thank you! Yeah, your guess is right it wasn't steel wool but a fireworks volcano. The small kind you can get at any supermarket right before New Year's Eve (at least it's this way in Germany). Also working with steel wool would've been almost impossible in this picture as you need to spin it quite fast so you'd get the sparks flying. However, this tool was rotated slowly so the led lights wouldn't blur.

Excellent idea - thanks for sharing that information.
Here in New Zealand we can only get fireworks a couple of days before Guy Fawkes night in November- so a few months to wait before I can try that

Thank you and it's my pleasure. It's not like it's a total secret. Although every light painter has something they don't want to share. Hehe.
Then for you it's just the same as for us. We also hoard as much as possible at the end of the year so we'd have enough until the next New Year's Eve. But I'm looking forward to your first attemts.
