Alex mercer and James heller are opposite sides of the same coin.

Yeah, I'm just gonna say it, I like Heller. He actually had a sense of purpose. Mercer just seemed kinda boring as a character. A typical sociopath, looking to reclaim his humanity before eventually giving up on his never ending search for something he never had in the first place, only to become a typical Saturday morning cartoon villain. (Granted I blame the writers for that last part since they could have made Mercer more deeper and meaningful with his darker actions.) Heller on the other hand was straight forward. Kill the guys who ruined his family and save his daughter's life. They kept him simple yet relatable as a character and I grew more attach to him then I did Mercer.

Yeah virus Alex Mercer was boring at least human Alex Mercer had a backstory that made him totally fucked up in the head and if we played as him just altered by the virus like the way Prototype 2 did it we could have related to that one more instead of the virus one which all the idiotic Mercer fans love more than the human one.

Alex Mercer is like a sword, slicing and agile.
James Heller is like an axe, slow, but sturdy.
In my point of view,
I will never use an axe.

I think a better analogy would have been a sword and a knife. Both are very fast and agile, but one is stronger and sturdier and the other is quicker and smaller. Still both are close to each other with one having that slight edge in a different area over another.

in the comics it says near the end i believe that he lost his faith in humanity after apparently "realizing" that humanity is weak, and the thing that made him think that was a girl he really started to like, but stabbed him in the back..literally
