This is such an inspiring picture…
The frog perspective gives an impression of Elric being a great man, not necessarily a tall man, the whole in the clouds symbolising hope. The curvilinear perspective giving a sort of feeling of freedom, he can walk whatever direction he desires. Perhaps driven by the hope in the skies? He definitely is captivated by the rays of sunshine fighting their way through the powerful barrier of the clouds, these could symbolise despair. A beautiful contrast, isn't it? Hope bursting through the despair of a lost, but great man. Determination.
Elric, after all, is driven by the hope of regaining his and his brother's bodies, walking a long way, going through a lot of despair on what seems to be an endless path, like in the picture.

Wow, I didn't intend for the piece to be as deep as you've interpreted it to be, but yes, it is like he is walking towards freedom and hope despite the lengths and pains he's gone through during his journey
