Description
Day 6 of Unamused Ungulates, this time featuring the bluebuck, one of the most well known historically extinct animals. The bluebuck is called that way cause its coat was always described to have a blue-ish gray look to it and its closest living relatives were sable and roan antelopes. It lived in the southwestern Cape of South Africa though it used to have a wider range prior to historic times. Speaking of which, like i mentioned earlier the bluebuck is historically extinct, more specifically around the early 1800s when the last bluebuck was shot either on 1799 or 1800 making it the first large african mammal to go extinct in historical times followed by the quagga which died out about 83 years later. Also i realized too late that i made this design's mane way too big as opposed to bluebucks actually having the smallest manes out of the Hippotragus genus. Oh well.
