Description this was shot the day after all the hill photos... it had been raining, and i saw a rainbow out front. so i jumped in my car, and drove to the path that goes up the hill. obviously i have increased the contrast and decreased the brightness and increased the saturation a bit. the original was, not only pretty pale, but i hadn't even noticed the second rainbow until i did the enhancements. not that i cloned it - it was really already there. just difficult to see.

colors are great, might have picked up some noise from the saturation increase though. Might try throwing a blur on the sky to hide the noise. Not much detail there to lose.

you're right - i'll try to work on that again - i'm trying to remember - i think i already did try some blur, and lost too much of the rainbow. then again, maybe i didn't - wouldn't hurt to see what i can do this time around

well depending on how well you know PS you can blue the sky and not the rainbow. It can get kinda tricky though

too much noise or grain has a long history in photojournalism and art photography. the world doesn't have to always be perfect

and thank you for the faves and comments

There are tools for noise removal. Photoshop CS has noise reduce filter for example.

zasu In reply to Mrichston [2006-02-16 17:15:01 +0000 UTC]

i would LOVE to have CS... too bad i'm not rich

and, i downloaded a free noise removal program, but could never figure out how to get it to work :/

Mrichston In reply to zasu [2006-02-16 19:03:57 +0000 UTC]

There is also cheaper photoshop elements, but i dunno if it has noise reducing filter.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

zasu In reply to Mrichston [2006-02-21 07:26:40 +0000 UTC]

ah... thank you. i have photoshop 7.0, and also photoshop elements (which i've never used). but hopefully i can find a noise reducing filter somewhere. right now, i use a trick i learned online, to apply gaugassian blur to some parts, then apply unsharp mask over it. it helps a little, but not completely.
