"Hold him down, Raditz!"...The real reason Vegeta hates worms soooo much...
So there was a mission where Vegeta made a big, biiig mistake - he layed down to rest under a tree after he destroyed a town, to wait for Nappa and Raditz. But when the two saiyans found the prince, they found that worms-like creatures too... They attacked Vegeta, actually insinuated into his wounds and steal his ki to re-create the planet's nature he destroyed a few hours ago. Of course Raditz wanted to save the kid, so he simply tried tear them out, but he can't - the worms stricked to Vegeta's entrails like a new limb, so...
So at the end, 209 had to solve the problem. (Like always...) He is a super-intellgent lizard-alien who knows everything about the saiyans. And when I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING. About their history, their behavior, abilities... To be honest, actually he's the one who breeds them for hundred years like experimental rats or something - and of course Vegeta is one of his actual favourite...
