I'd say it was primarily the fault of the ponies who chose to ship lightning and elephants like that, and secondarily the fault of Sky Swift, that rude . . . wait, actually, I'm not sure whether that pony is female. Maybe that's Speedy?
Point is, you were just the lightning rod for everypony else's unsafe practices to come together.

Wait, only half the town? Twilight and Spike did worse with the Parasprites and Spike have done even worse with the Parasprites and going Kaiju. Not to mention RD's sabotage of the weather factory, though admittedly nobody saw that. Oh, and too many Pinkies. And then there was the rabbit stampede. And the Tirek fight. And Discord. And the evil vines. And want-it-need-it.
Actually, that towns' destruction is pretty damn common.

I guess my thinking on that would be that they get some extra leeway by merit of how often they save Equestria overall, while Ditzy gets to tango with confirmation bias skewering perspective pretty thoroughly.

But I suppose the reason why she was out of the job is due to the lawsuits likely incurred as a result of the incident, (even assuming improper packaging could well be cited as the problem, there's probably no stated policy or quality assurance to check a shipment before accepting it to be shipped).

Next, we deal with the lynch mob.....possibly led by the idiot who knocked her into the crate in the first place. Also, this washing over Rarity and Rainbow Dash because of course it does.

Poor Ditzy. This incident is not her fault, since if noone knocked her then following events would not have happened.The true guilty one is that pegasus who was not looking where he(or she) is flying and knocked Ditzy right into the dangerous mix of elephants and packed in glass bottles ligtnings. But her chief said she is guilty , and that was the reason why she was out of a job. Needless to say it was unfair. But this is Ditzy' past, which caused mistrust to her from other dwellers of Ponyville.
By the way, you could say "... after(|) I received a number of letters which contained a few tones of distiled hatred" instead of a part of Ditzy' phrase in the second panel. (It just sounds better, in my opinion)
