Description
The only real requirements for getting the pacifist ending are not killing anyone, which means you can beat Papyrus within an inch of his life for no reason and still be considered a pacifist as long as you don't kill him. You can beat up every monster you see and still be called Frisk at the end of the game as long as you don't kill anyone. A senselessly violent Frisk is just as legitimate as one who never touched the fight button at all. It's meant to be that way so there's enough room for the player to write their own story of their own journey into Frisk, but it opens up so many possibilities for who any given Frisk could be.

More completely canon-compliant Frisks:

-A Frisk who ran in mortal terror from every monster they saw when possible
-A Frisk who kicks dogs and ONLY dogs
-A Frisk who doesn't really care about anyone and only did a pacifist run out of the same detached curiousity that made them do a murder run. They just wanted to see what would happen.
-A Frisk who only really loves Papyrus and only spared everyone else to make him happy.
-A Frisk who punched every monster in the face once because it made them feel powerful
-A Frisk who likes bullying and hurting others, but can't go far enough to kill anyone
-A Frisk who really, really wants to kill monsters and barely manages to keep their impulses in check throughout the game
-A Frisk who DOES kill monsters repeatedly and enjoys it, but loads their save each time so it never sticks
-A Frisk who's done multiple neutral and murder runs and is now so overcome with guilt and remorse that they're doing a pacifist run to try and make it up to everyone

All of these scenarios would lead to a child who says their name is Frisk! And all of them could be real canon runs, depending on how you decide to play the game and what your motivations are. There IS no single canon Frisk, there's just each player's choices and decisions that led them to the pacifist ending. I just think that's really cool, in a way.

No wonder Sans never really trusts you though after you rough up his brother, even if Papyrus instantly forgives you. Of course he would, sob. To be fair, Papyrus attacks you as well, so he's not a true pacifist either. No one in the game is except for the monsters who never attack you at all, of course.
