Description Hey would you look at that. A Sith Apprentice corrupting their kyber crystal that most certainly isn't my disgusting self-insert. But, ooh, pretty glowing lights.

And uh, despite the fact I like to imagine myself as an evil badass, the only thing going through my head as I drew this was how comfy a cloak like that would be.

Have a great life!

Haha! I too imagine myself as an evil badass. Too bad I'm totally mundane.

Haha, well, I wouldn't call you mundane, you're a wonderful artist after all! But it kinda feels nice to pretend to be evil sometimes, despite the fact that I'd rather draw than rule the world. Or at least, take an active interest in ruling the world. If someone could rule the world in my name while I draw, I'd be down.

I'm struggling to rule my own life as it is! The world? never happening, but it's still nice to fantasize about bringing wrath down upon all the unwashed masses who dare presume to control me!

Certainly, and the image of yourself lounging in a grand throne room wearing royal regalia, bored and distracted as some miserable cur begs for their life. Does it not bring you peace?

All the while little birds bring you updates on the rebellion fermenting in the streets. Little do they suspect that many of the leaders are actually agents planted by your's truly. The royal council must be scratching their heads over that smug smirk on your lips....

Yes, and when that foolish rebellion rises up. When you have allowed your people to hope, you will crush it. For it never was a threat. No one will ever dare lay a finger on your power again.

Well....there is that prophecy about the savior of the commonfolk etched in ancient runes in the cellar of the ruined tower over by the cliffs. Probably nothing to worry about though.

After all, who would ever stand against you? Certainly not that 18-year-old boy of that farmer who couldn't supply enough grain this harvest. Better burn the kids home, imprison his parents, maybe kidnap his girlfriend?

Of course the scholars sport various interpretations of the words written in stone "When the harvest fails, the kingdom ails, the hope of the peasantry prevails" Could refer to a poor farmboy, or it could mean there will be an economic shift of some sort. I've dispatched a squad of my most elite Dawnstalkers to take care of the farmboy just in case though.

Unfortunately, due to the help of an elderly wizard mentor who has been a thorn in my side for far too long, the boy escaped the Dawnstalkers. I executed the leader for his failure, naturally. I must do more research into that prophecy, only out of general curiosity, of course. This child is no threat to me.

Yes, I know this wizard. He's one descended from the olde art which began in the days when fallen angels frequented the realm of mortals. It's said one of his ilk might summon power from the elements of rock, plant and animal if he utters their true names whilst dawning his true form, alas he may do only once in his lifetime; the wizard at hand having done this to rid the realm of my predecessor the Tyrant. He's harmless.....unless he passes his wisdom to an apprentice.........

Hmm, that boy. Could that arcane power truly flow through him? But he comes from nothing. Nothing. And yet, he reminds me of someone. A former rival to the throne, a former brother-in-arms before I claimed my rightful place as ruler of this realm. An heir? It couldn't be, I struck him down long ago, nearly 18 years to the day. Hhn, it is possible. Perhaps the boy has more potential to be dangerous than I first realized. Then the wizard must die. That old fool must have no chance to train the offspring of the one man who had a claim to this throne.

As it wouldn't be wise to let the sun set on such matters, I summoned my three closest friends, all knights who knew this former brother-in-arms to whom this farmboy in question bears resemblance, to my private quarters. Aethelred Master-at-arms, Siegfried Sergeant of the guard, and Aelfhelm the Glutton, all members of the High Council, crowded around my desk by the light of an oil lamp illuminating the dust in the air, stirred by a nearby window with the curtains open to the night, to discuss all avenues of approach to this nagging issue of the possibility that the Tyrant's grandson is not only alive, but an apprentice of the Olde Arts. If this revelation proves true, the events foretold of yore have been set into motion. I will not only find myself to be of the Spirit of Shemyaza leader of the doomed Fallen Angels, but I will quickly fall prey to the same doom.........

The four most powerful men in the land together in one room. Our history was long and grand, but I have always found that trust is not to be given out by a leader who intends to reign very long. Candlelight revealed trepidation in the eyes of my comrades. Voices dropped to a conspirator's whisper, they prattled on about their fears should this boy be the son of Haelan, son of The Tyrant. I felt their guilt for the death of their former comrade. I allowed them this for a moment, despite my disgust at their weakness. Such secrets may make themselves useful at a later time. As the wick burned on, I turned the conversation to matters of substance. Whether or not the boy had royal blood mattered little at the moment. The wizard, the old man was all that stood between my total subjugation of the land. We would have to find him. We would find him and end him.

"Are you telling me that despite the fact that the lad is virtually neutralized, severed from the wizard ere his own awakening, the imminent threat that is his master hasn't appeared in any of your spies reports?" I asked in a steady voice, despite my agitation.
"Uh-aye" Aelfhelm belched after quaffing stoutly from his horn of black ale. "Even a peep of 'is whereabouts 'ave dodged all my scouts. Even the gutter-rats."
"It's to be expected Aelf" Aethelred added quickly. Always the amiable fellow. Aethelred and Aelfhelm trained together as young squires in their youth and fought together under the Tyrant and also under my rule. "There's been no talk of the Olde Arts during my lifetime, exceptin' as bed time tales to keep us awake at night as babes."
"I fail to understand how that makes his sudden disappearance so obvious." I said. "This man spent the past several decades as alderman of his town. Surely he couldn't just up and vanish with no witness or co-conspirator out of whom the truth can be forced."
"Your Magnificence, if I may" chimed in Siegfried. "The subject of the Olde Arts oft is breached at evening meal in my men's barracks. If oral tradition is to be trusted, the ability to change one's outer appearance is achievable by those skilled in the trade of magick."
Aelfhelm declared "That is good to know! I'll direct inquiries as to whether any strangers have wandered into the capitol or any of the outlying town and villages."
"Thank you but that won't be good enough." said Siegfried. "He will most likely mimic a person already known here. He could even be one of us!"
"That's enough fear mongering tonight." I said, eager for some time to my own thoughts. "Aelfhelm, have your spies that deal in the streets and markets take note of anyone acting different. Your traveling merchants too. If you would be so kind, I adjure this meeting for the present. Good night."

Watching my compatriates file out of my chambers, my lips twisted into a sneer. Hmph, anyone. The wizard could be anyone. Gah, curse the Olde Arts and all of Magik-kind! I will not be outwitted by a child of the peasantry and a crooked old man! If I cannot find the wizard, I will find the boy and take my revenge. But, while I have the resources to search over every hill and dale for this child, time is not with me. Time will make the boy a threat. Then, I must force their hand. Ah, the boy's relatives, I have them still in custody. Perhaps a public execution will draw out this pair. Ere the morning sun's rise, I shall send a messenger to call upon the stockade.
