Description Known by various names by human beings, Faeries (or Djinn) are an advance sapient race that exist in a parallel dimension that exists alongside our own. According to myth, the Djinn were created before mankind out of smokeless flame. They are a diverse race with a deep prejudice toward humankind. Many Djinn enjoy causing mischief and harm to humans.
Djinn have the ability to shape-shift; often into animals, humans and even make themselves invisible. They also have the ability to possess human bodies similar to demons. Djinn and Human population are always equal to each other (a Djinn counterpart for a human is called a Qareen).

Here are some varieties of Faeries:

BANSHEES are a female caste of faeries known to scream when someone is about to die. Banshees are usually seen by a person who is about to die in a violent way such as murder. Although not always seen, their mourning calls are heard, usually at night when someone is about to die.

REDCAPS, also known as Powries and Dunters, are a short, red-eyed, malevolent faerie who murder travellers who stray into their homes and dye their hats with their victims' blood. It wears iron-shod boots and carries a heavy pikestaff or a scythe, neither of which slow the creature down at all. The Redcap is said to move very quickly, and outrunning one of these monsters is said to be impossible.

A TENGU is a crow-like faerie that live in the mountains of the far east. They are patrons of martial arts and skilled warriors, but they are also known for their mischief and trickery and shape-shifting.

LEPRECHAUNS are a type of devious male faerie. They can be lustful, nasty, capricious creatures as well as tricksters. Many of them are humble cobblers and have a passion for gold and alcohol. Leprechauns who have been captured by humans have been known to barter for their freedom with gold, but dealing with leprechauns can be a tricky and dangerous proposition.

The Djinn is the Arabic name for faeries meaning "hidden from sight". With the right kind of magick, they can be bound and controlled. I have chosen to use 'Djinn' interchangeably with 'faeries'.
