Entry for *Senju-HiMe - Contest [link]My first submission for January 2012 done for #Draw-Along
This is my version of the wonderful reference by *Senju-HiMe -
Her gallery is amaaaaaziiinggg!!
Materials used:
1.Strathmore smooth bristol ( a little less than A4)
2.Faber-Castell watercolor pencils
3.Graphite ( for slight shading)
4.Eraser
5.Lots and lots of time( more than 25 hours)
The grapes were Phew!

Thank you very much for taking your time out to critique my work. Well the reason that you must have seen this particular picture being repeatedly done is probably because we have a particular group called draw-along which gives us references each month for practice and the members of the group have a healthy competition between them. As far as experience in the field of color pencils go I have none but I'm overwhelmed by the fact that you think the technique is flawless. Thank you very much for your kind words. Yes I would love to do something a lot more original, I am just a little skeptical to take that first step!

I really like this one. Excellent .And the photograph seems to be very good for drawing with colored pencils. I think that will be the first picture I'd draw with colored pencils when I get them

Yes, it is indeed. And I have already seen her gallery a while ago.. must admit, her photos are brilliant for drawing with colored pencils and some also for graphite pencils

has a lot more color and "spice" than the original photograph! I have seen many versions of this picture and your is by far my favorite one

This is just so well done! The colour is vivid and smooth. The detail in the eyes is brilliant. I like the purple in those grapes, although I think they could use a bit more "shine" on some of them like the reference picture to make them pop out a bit more and be more round and realistic. I think the official term for those shine bits is are specula but I'm not sure. Anyway, a really well drawn piece!
