A papercraft bust of Kiki from Kikiβs Delivery Service! Watching this movie feels like cuddling up in a big warm blanket - it has such a lovely atmosphere. ^_^
Iβd wanted to make her for a while but could never quite settle on what patterns would suit her, so I finally used a bunch of brand-new papers in a fit of glee. I love these patterns! Kiki deserves the best!!

now that I think about it again, another thing that makes me like a lot this art style is that it reminds me of a cool anime I've never actually finished, from the start of the 2000s... It was this remake of the Count of Montecristo novel but in a sci-fi version, and the clothing and hair of the characters, instead of being colored normally, were digitally painted pasting on them stylish decorated textures... the effect was a bit how to say... LSD? xD but at same time quite stylish and cool, felt like they weren't bad color management but like they used some hi-tech futuristic clothing with shifting textures on it

You've got a good eye, because Gankutsuou, in addition to being one of my favorite anime series, was actually one of my inspirations for starting to make papercraft!

Always had a love/hate thing for the studio making that anime... they made good series, but for crazy artistic reasons filled em with bad jarring CGI ( rewatched now, it's less eye-stabbing than most recent CGI... how's that possible? xO).
Gankutsuou was THE anime in which that experimental craze resulted in something totally cool and stylish, and actually something that nobody else tried to do again in an anime (for what "I" know... I'm actually a fake otaku, I ain't watched that many of them xD)
In my country anime (recent ones at least) used to be cast on the national version of Mtv (every Tuesday evening, the Anime Night), and once per year there was a week with some Episode 1 of new shows every day (like a sort of test to see what to insert in the Anime Night). Gankutsuou was one of these. It didn't make to the regular Night, but was really really cool, and had bonus points for having a Sir Dubbing
(I think the voice actor of the Count is one of the coolest and hottest mature man voice of my country's localization industry xD)

Haha, I actually didn't see it until I was in high school, even though a lot of my friends grew up with it! I wish I'd seen it as a kid, though; I feel like it would have been a favorite.
