Description Part 4 of my tutorial for making embroidery files in Stitch Era. This should about wrap things up! Make sure to save your progress and save the mirrored eye separately XP

I only included some brief tips on setting up the embroidery machine. The machine instructions will provide way more information, I just added some of the things I had to learn on my own.

With my sloppy handwriting I didn't have much space, but use the tearaway stabilizer underneath the fabric and the water soluble stabilizer on top. The water soluble stuff is necessary for minky; if you don't use it the fur will poke up through the stitches. You don't need any stabilizer on top of fleece.

After this point, if there are problems in the embroidery, just go back to the file and edit some more like in this part of the tutorial.

I hope this is clear and easy to understand ^_^;;

Firstly thank you for this tutorial! @_@ I hate learning new programs (no matter if they end up being really simple) so this helped a lot with getting through that initial hurdle haha.

Have you upgraded to any of the paid versions? I'm using the trial now and it's not letting me export to .PES at all - saw you mentioned using that file type in the comments. Thankfully my Brother does seem to take .DST (just loads them a bit slower), but I was wondering if there was some kind of additional plugin needed to be able to save as .PES D:

I'm glad my tutorial helped! The program has changed a bit since I made this, but all the same functions are there. Unfortunately I have to pay for Stitch Era now, I wish it was still free

If there's a free file format that works for your machine, then go ahead and use what works I really only know what works for me.

Hi! My SEU is very finicky, but I finally got a nice embroidery file ready. However, My Brother PE 500 isn't recognizing the file. I've tried exporting it to PES (Ver 5 and 6), but my machine isn't accepting it. This has happened before (when I was using SewArt), but somehow it eventually worked itself out. Do you have any suggestions? Should I export it to a different format, or reload SEU? Thank you for your help!

Ok, it only works on my machine as a dst and only after I upload it and disconnect the flash drive can I open it on my machine XD

That's interesting, glad you solved it. The only times my PES files don't work is when they are too big for the hoop.

Hey I followed your tutorial. For whatever reason the white part of the eye is fine, but when it gets to the highlights it just screws it up and creates knots which jams it up.

I find when my machine jams up, it's usually because:
1. the bobbin thread is running low
2. the top thread didn't pick up the bobbin thread when it started sewing for some reason
3. the top thread wasn't threaded correctly
4. the spool of thread is getting tangled or broken somehow

Check the bottom side of the embroidery... if there is only colored thread on the bottom when there should be bobbin thread, then the problem might be number 2. If it's just a big mess of knots, it might be number 1 or 3. Did the problem happen more than once?

Yeah. Mainly when it wanted to do in the colors of the eyes it just wanted to one a single line it seems which made it basically bunch up on itself as I would start to hear it making a clanking sound. I just don't understand how on the program on my computer it looks solid and fine but when it embroiders it makes it incredibly small to the point that it seems its like 1 pixel or something.

I went with the standard version myself because I didn't want a more limited version of the program

Some amazing people can do this kind of embroidery by hand. I don't have the patience for it, though!

You'll need to save it as dsg to work on it in Stitch Era. Save it as .pes (or dst? I'm only familiar with pes format) to use it on your machine by clicking "Export as Embroidery Machine Format"

Thank you so much for this! I just got my first embroidery machine and this helped me a lot! It may be of interest that I have found that I get the highest quality render when I import a targa file saved in AI. I barely have to do any fixes most the time

Wow! thanks so much I have been having allot of trouble with Stitch era. So I was saving up for a more pricey program, but maybe this will help work out the kinks.

I recently downloaded SEU, and they still haven't sent me an email to verify me and all @w@ how long did it take you to unlock your version?

Yukamina-Plushies In reply to MintyStitch [2013-03-16 17:57:47 +0000 UTC]

It was long ago, I can't remember @_@ I don't think it took long, though.
The company will be discontinuing SEU, maybe that's why they are slow to respond (or check your junk mail)?
