Twitter / Pixiv / InstagramHad a different title in mind, but the double meaning of 'defect' for Baldwin was too appropriate to pass up. 8D
Was trialling a colouring style for my comics but ended up not as simple as it was meant to be. :') The pose was hard to get refs for too; I guessed a lot so stuff probably looks weird.
Blood was fun. XD Wanted to draw a setting, but it would've been too distracting for the abstract-ish effect I was going for. Also I spent time drawing the cannulas and they ended up under bandages anyway. OTL
Now back to working on pages arghh.

Edit: Made some minor changes to the blood for cohesiveness.

I came to your page to give you a llama since you gave one to me.
But after gazing at your art for a bit, Ima stay .u.
This drawing in particular caught my eye.
Usually gore doesn't make me feel a lot.
Severed limbs, guts, I'm rather unphased by it.
But this drawing for some reason, it makes me feel really sick, even though there's minimal blood.
He looks like he's in a lot of agony from whatever's happened to him.
It makes my stomach turn.. I feel really terrible for him.

Your pic looks fine to me. The numerous broken tubes indicate that your character was quite active prior to ending up on the floor. His head could have been in a thousand different positions during his obvious struggle to break free of the hoses and allowing blood to end up all over his chin. The puddle on the floor could be of any size depending on how long he remained in that position. With what looks like a considerable amount of struggling to break free, your character most likely is exhausted and unable to move. Annnd... I think we have to consider the effect of any drugs that might be in his system, too. Also, the pool of blood looks like your character's head and body may have been previously forward just a bit as he was crawling and his energy played out causing him to settle back a bit and allowing the blood to cover a greater area than if his head had come to a stop and just remained there. I can visualize several different scenarios that would explain all traces of blood in your pic. Again...I think it looks fine. ~ Very ~ well done, as a matter of fact. Keep up the good work!

I edited the picture a bit after I first posted it so that the blood actually looks like blood and not a vague red blob on the floor, haha.

Yeah, I looked at it sometime after finishing and it looks overdone there. Like it looks too thick?
I rarely revise pieces after I call them done, especially when it's fairly minor, but it does bother me a bit too XD so I might smooth out the rendering a bit there.

Yes,for me the fact that bothers me the most is that the mouth seems to be leaking a bit of blood,but the puddle suggests that the mouth was leaking WAY more than it appears to.

I can see how it would be hard to find references. I tend to want to draw people in poses that I can never find references for.

The gist of it is that he did some things and has to face some pretty harsh consequences. I'd go into more detail but it's from fairly late in my story so a lot of context is needed (i.e. I'd have to spoil a lot).

Thanks! Yes, some defects are more severe than others.
There's also another meaning of defect that makes more sense in the context of the story, but it's probably too early to share that. XD
